Sounds like Edler is back, Corrado was just sent back to Utica.

Corrado back to Utica. That means Edler is a go tonight.

Well that sucks.

Rather keep Frankie and trade Edler but guess it's time for him to increase his trade value.

That or he blows goats and decreases it to the point he goes nowhere.

Never seen a team welcome back their best D with such negativity. For shame.

Edler hasn't been our best D for about 2 and half years

He's probably been the most inconsistent defenseman this season for the Canucks.

I'd rank Hamhuis, Garrison, Tanev, Stanton and Bieksa ahead of him in overall play.

Well, I'm happy Edler's back for one. Sure he can be maddeningly inconsistent, but I still think this team is better with him on it than off it. (with injury, anyway - trade depends on return and that's a whole other hill of beans...)

Hopefully they will be better and make up some ground on the teams ahead of them.

Jeff Paterson ‏@patersonjeff
#Canucks went 9-3-4 without Edler. Gained 22 of possible 32 points

Yes, but their advanced stats actually dove quite a bit. Reference the "Rolling 10-game 5v5 close FF%" chart on this page: http://www.extraskater.com/team/vancouver-canucks/2013

The advanced stats agree with Torts: the Canucks were playing better when they were on a losing stretch in November with Edler in the lineup than they were on a winning stretch in December without him.

Our best D hasn't been out of the lineup though...

It would be extremely nice for "physical Edler" to show up tonight. Hopefully Edler can get back on track post-suspension like Kassian has of late.

If Edler crushes Brown this game, he can have several minuses and it would still be a good game.

Hate Brown...

Wouldn't we rather him run Quick? He ran Smith before, so if he's going to get the repeat offender suspension, it might as well be for running goalies.

Edler slots back in the line-up tonight and Lack gets the start.

Like it or not, this team is better with Edler on it. Corrado clearly isn't ready yet. And Edler, even on his defensively inconsistent (at best) days, is still a prime offensive threat from the back end.

I like Stanton, but I don't know how he'd do with Edler's minutes against the opposition's top lines. I've seen Stanton make mistakes. He gets away with a gift pass up the middle because it ends up on the stick of a depth player who can't keep it or do anything with it.

Sure wish Edler was his old self though. Glad to see him back, nonetheless.

Stanton has only EIGHT giveaways this season - Compare Bieksa - 41, Hamhuis - 36, Garrison - 23, Edler - 13 and Tanev - 11.

And Stanton is second in hits among Dmen with 52 despite being out and playing about 14 minutes per game.

Giveaways and takeaways are probably the most unreliable stats in the game. Hits aren't much better.

I think Archibald should run the goalie. He's done so very nicely before.
