General Viktor Visilyevich Tikhonov. Thats what happened. Players confined to barracks when they werent playing & if he suspected a player might defect he'd generally leave them off the roster when playing tournaments in foreign climes. Didnt matter who they were nor how good to great the player. Wasnt taking any chances. And yes, if one of them did, family back home... might not be so good for them.

Gretzky, just his points alone. That with never be passed. I think hes at least 100 goals above #2. Even his number was different. I think his last season he still had 65plus points.

Problem with Gretzky is that he didn't have a style of play that you could repeat at a lower level.As of today , nobody has ever played like him.

This is Orr pretty easily. Orr blazed the way for defenseman to lead the rush, Orr changed the actual geometry of the game, Gretzky got some rules changed but Orr changed the way the game is played, coached, and planned for. Orr had more of an effect than any of those guys.
