I like the two Russians in Barbashev & Scherbak as two possible options for when we're on the clock. They both don't fit the mold of your stereotypical Russian & both are playing in Canada so maybe there's a chance the Flyers like them as well.

Mock draft only has him 7 spots up...Flyers could make the deal.

I like Scherbak too. I know this is vague, but I read something a little while back about him that didn't like. Injury maybe? I can't remember but there was some knock on his game that turned me away.

He came into the year as an unknown import from Russia. He was barely on scouting lists to start out the year but worked his way up to a possible first rounder in that time. As someone mentioned earlier the Flyers do have a tendency to like those type of players who rise during their draft year.

He's a good skater with good speed & has good hands to go along with his big body. He's not strong defensively at the moment so that could use some work for the next level but his bread & butter will still be his offense.

He played mostly all of his games so it wasn't an injury, at least not a serious one.

So the Flyers don't have a 4th this year or a 2nd next year?

Yup. I can stop watching the draft after we use Boston's third. That will likely be close to 90th overall.

Knowing the draft is in Philly, It would not surprise me the least to see the Flyers move into the top 10 to get the player they want and need. Depending on how the playoff run goes will give likely give us a better indication of Homers almost certain insane plan lol.

I think the chances are higher that the pick is apart of a deal for NHL roster player. I can't see Homer putting assets into something that won't be helping his team out any time soon.

Maybe if we are in the 16-26 range I would not be surprised to see Homer trade up for Kapanen if he is still there from 12+

Remember, that pick can also be a 2nd round pick instead.

If Boston makes the conference finals & Mez plays in 2/3 of the games or re-signs before the draft it gets upgraded to a second rounder.

If he re-signs before the draft we'll get a 4th rounder as well.

If I am not mistaken it is either a 2nd or a 3rd and 4th. I do not think it can be a 2nd and 4th.

Here's the conditions here, it's confusing.
Quote:
Philadelphia will receive a second-round pick in 2014 if Boston advances to the 2014 Eastern Conference Final and Meszaros plays two-thirds of Boston's Stanley Cup Playoff games or if Meszaros re-signs with Boston prior to the 2014 NHL Entry draft. If not, then Philadelphia will receive a third-round pick.
Quote:
Philadelphia will receive a fourth-round pick in 2015 if Boston fails to reach the 2014 Eastern Conference Final and Meszaros is re-signed by Boston for the 2014–15 NHL season after the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

I wouldn't mind taking a goalie with the extra second. I know we have Stolarz but it doesn't hurt to have more goalies in the system.

So from what I understand, i am right no? They get a 2nd if Boston goes to the ECF AND 2/3rds of the final games or signs before the draft. From this part I take it as ECF + 2/3rds or ECF + pre-draft. Unless the or means if Mez signs before the draft we get a 2nd? In which case it would be in favor of the Bruins in that part.

The 4th round pick comes if they do not make the ECF AND he signs after the draft.

Always found the wording confusing.

It looks that way, I don't know who the hell drew that one up.

Nedeljkovic from Plymouth might be a good option. I'm not sure where he is projected but he's been really good this year.

If that turns into a 2nd, I'd love to see the Flyers somehow walk out of the draft with Milano and Honka with their first two picks (pipe dream to get both, I know) and then a guy like Ryan Collins with the Bruins pick. Collins I don't know much about, but he is a huge dude. Seems like a more stay-at-home defender, but could be a good bottom pairing guy that is defensively responsible. I don't even know if Collins is projected to be a 2nd rounder or higher or lower. Either way, a blueline with Morin, Collins, and Schenn holding down the fort for Ghost, Hagg, and Coburn (or someone more mobile if Coburn is too old at that point) would be pretty interesting to watch.

Doesn't seem like a goalie the Flyers would target.
