Gaudreau deserves to run away with this. Wish he was our prospect

I have extreme doubts he translates well to the NHL. Very, very few guys his size can hack it.

Yep, he's smaller than the small guys in the NHL. I think he ends up a solid career AHL'er.

He's not your average small guy.

Nathan Gerbe's still playing in this league 3 inches smaller than Gaudreau (5'8" 159 lbs) at 5'5" 171 lbs.

Gaudreau:
NCAA (BC) - 116GP 74G 165PTS 1.42PPG
WJC (USA) - 7GP 7G 2A 9PTS 1.29PPG

Gerbe:
NCAA (BC) -123GP 71G 62A 133PTS 1.08PPG
WJC (USA) - 14GP 0G 6A 6PTS 0.43PPG

Gaudreau likely won't play right away but once he adds some more weight he'll play in the NHL, much like Gerbe he's too talented not to despite his small stature.

Look at the NCAA stats over the last decade. Only one guy comes close to his production (Andy Miele). He was in his fourth year and was two years older. Gaudreau has also done it in arguably the best conference in the country. He's been the small kid his whole life. He's just smarter than everyone he plays against. He might not win all the board battles at the next level, but I've seen him go in the corner against guys twice his size and come out with the puck. He is so crafty. It also doesn't hurt that he has some of the silkiest hands I've ever seen.

When he gets good, and the Calgary fanbase turns on him can we expect him to sign here like Ryan?

Gaudreau is infinitely more talented than Gerbe as well. Size is no issue for him. He's the most elusive player I have ever seen. He simply doesn't get touched by defenders, and I see no reason that trend won't continue in the NHL.

I see him being a 65-75 point guy. His talent level is off the charts. He's probably the most "skilled" player from his draft.

I noticed that JG didn't get drafted till like the 3rd or 4th round. Seems odd.

What's odd? He was a smurf playing in the USHL. The 4th round was actually pretty good for him.

Yeah, I was just using Gerbe as an example as an undersized guy who's stuck in the NHL despite that. Cam Atkinson is another undersized BC guy who's stuck in the NHL as well. Gaudreau's more naturally talented than both but we'll see if it translates fully to the next level.

Gerbe is known to be freakishly strong for a man his size. Also he he outweighs gaudreau by 20 lbs and up unitl this year was a 4th liner. If gaudreau is not in the top 6 he wont be in the league .

Ghost looks like he's going to be a real good defender for us hopefully soon, really like his game and wearing the "A" shows he has some leadership qualities, we have some good young "D" in the system with him, Morin and Hagg. I've seen Johnny G. since he was a kid playing against older bigger kids his whole life and constantly excelled, he's won everywhere he's been so I have no reservations about him playing in the NHL.

Melrose kept saying it over and over again during Union games, that Ghost stays in on the blue line to stop the pucks because he knows he can skate down anybody.

That's a fun player to have.
