Why does Anaheim do either?

I like Miller, but he's UFA and 33 years old. Plus will probably want a big contract + term. No way I trade Gibson for that.

Only way Hiller is being traded is as part of a package for a even better goalie, someone like Miller.

Anderson/Fasth could be traded for an upgrade on defense or a upgrade on offense (although there isn't really any spots).

So unless Anaheim is getting a top goaltender back, there is no way they would trade their #1.

2) Sam Gagner would actually fit in quite well on the Ducks, you speak as if you know nothing of the player.

3) You disagree with my assessment, that's fine, but there's no need to be a ***** about it.

1. Fasth is always injured. Gibson/Andersen are unproven rookies. We have no desire to "dump" Hiller whatsoever.

2. Gagner does not fill a need for this team. He would likely compete with Perreault for 4th most ice time for centers.

EDIT: Just listened to the PM audio. Nothing is even close to happening. He only brought up the value of the Ducks goalies because he was asked about Reimer's potential value.

You need big names in a blockbuster....since a goalie is involved, how about Bufalo ?

Is any of this possible ?

to ANAHEIM: combo of Miller, Grigorenko, Myers ???

to BUFFALO: one Anaheim goalie, Perry or Getzlaf ???

I personally think it's Anderson. Fasth cant be moved because he is on IR. I doubt they trade Hiller unless Miller comes back.

I'm thinking Anderson goes somewhere.

Conditional 2nd round pick if Miller doesnt resign. 3rd if he does.
We're not giving up a great prospect like Rakell in a deal like this, the whole reason Holland was traded is because Rakell made him expendable....

Ducks are legit cup threat with their current group so I can't see why they'd move a main piece like Hiller. Maybe they like him and are working on an extension, making a guy like Gibson expendable, in which case I hope the Oil are all over this.

To ANH: Perron

To EDM: Gibson, DSP

Perron can play left or right side (has looked better on the right IMO), and would be good in either 1st or 2nd line role. The bonus - division rival Kings absolutely hate him. He terrorized Quick last year.

Only goalie I see is moving would be Andersen, Fasth is injured so nobody wants him. And unless we're getting Miller I don't see Hiller getting moved.

Wow. I think expectations need to be taken down a couple notches.....

The Ducks are the #1 team in the NHL and their Hart trophy winner and Hart trophy candidate, who both just signed 8 year contracts with NTC in them, are not going anywhere....

Yep, we're going to trade someone like Perry or Getzlaf, 2 of the best players in the world in their respective positions also our captain and another part of the leadership team, when we're top of the league and on a historic run in the NHL.

Why don't you just think, for one second first?

This screams a Miller trade. Hiller could be dealt elsewhere.

We don't have to move a contract.

There's a reason Hiller is the clear-cut starter of this team. You are wrong.

We don't have to trade him. We can easily live without receiving his perceived rental value in a trade. His value to us is still bigger than the rental value, that we can easily afford.

He probably would fit, but doesn't address any need. In the deal you proposed Hiller and Beauchemin address more vital needs than any what we receive. It's not well thought out.

It depends on how the Ducks are looking at their goalies. IMO Fasth is the least valuable to the Ducks plans going forward but he is experienced. He would probably not get a very high return at this point because his value is low. I could see them moving him or Gibson so that Gibson gets a shot in the NHL.

In any case, they will still get a decent return but not as high as Hiller would get. I definitely don't see a goalie coming back though.

What do the Ducks need (other than nothing) and how much capspace do they have?

Don't really think the Islanders have the pieces to send back to Anaheim to really constitute a "blockbuster" kind of deal. A need for a goalie, sure, but who are they going to send Anaheim's way?

Miller would probably be the likely candidate.

Someone should research what the thread count (or even post count) is for every trade that goes down in the NHL per season. My guess is one trade for every 10,000 posts.

6m cap space.

What they would want most likely.

An upgrade in net, like a top 10 goalie.
Upgrade on defence, a true top pair dman.

You want a dose of losing culture injected into our lockerroom? For 6 mill per year per player? One undersized and one injury prone?
