Derek Morris To Ottawa

Is he Available?

I dont even wanna put a proposal cause I have no idea what hes worth to PHX. But I think he would be a perfect 5-6 D-Man for Ottawa. Something we really need, kills penaltys and good in his own end. Maybe Allow us to play Wier over Phillips as well.

Hypothetically speaking lets say this is at the deadline, and PHX is out of the running.

It's hard to see him available if we are still in the hunt by March.

But in the case where we are out of it, then he could be one of the pieces moved to get some value before they bolt. Before the season started, I would have said that he would resign in PHX, but now I'm pretty doubtful that it happens, and he hasn't been fulfilling his role too well since returning from his father's death.

I can see him being moved for a decent prospect like Puempel/Prince or something similar.

So u would say he's worth a 1st or 2nd round pick?

Seems like quite a lot seeing you guys got him for a 4th rounder, but maybe he is now.

I actually dont know what hes worth was hoping he would be cheaper then that tho.

Morris has an nmc and loves Phoenix so I doubt he goes any where.

He plays a top-4 role on the Yotes, 2nd RHD behind Michalek; and is the partner of Yandle normally, so he is a fairly important player in our D-corps. He would probably adequately be top 4 on most teams, with every few exceptions. Basically someone that can play in all situations, and has a steady 2-way game (when his head is screwed on right). On the Sens, I guess he would be 3-4, depending on how well Cowen is doing at the moment.

Not sure if he wants to go to Ottawa, but an early-mid 2nd rounder would be a fairly good return, if that becomes a possibility, I would feel.

Phoenix will trade Morris when he asks for a trade. Not a moment before.

I think we would use him as a 5-6 dman to be honest but top pk'er and when were protecting a lead with Methot.

Cowen Karlsson
Methot Ceci
Wier/Phillips Morris

Would u be interested in any of Da Costa/Hoffman/Schneider/Grant + a 3rd/4th rounder?

@rt

I understand that were only talking if he did wanna be traded.
