Forsberg to the Flyers puts them over the cap

According to the Flyers messageboard, the flyers are now over the cap, and thats without getting Johnsson or Burke under contract, so they say that they will be looking to make trades.

I would LOVE for the rest of the League to take full advantage of the situation. Either (1) hold Clarke for ransom and demand like a 6th rounder for Gagne, or (2) refuse all trades whatsoever and stick him with the problem.

Hell yeah!

Let's help them out...

Let's offer them a 7th round pick in the 2007 nhl draft + Dale Punrington for Gagne. hahaha

TSN is rumoring that JR is likely to be Traded to LA in the very near feature, that will free up 4.5 salary.

What will league do if they go into the season over the cap? Anyone have any idea of what repercussions they face?

First thing is that the flyers wont be resigning Burke, no one even cares about him...if hes not gone already hes gone tommorow.

Flyers got rid of Roenick and freed up just enough space. We just need to Sign Gagne and KJ and i believe Esche.

I'm pretty certain the penalty for being over the cap is loss of 1st round draft picks, but that won't happen to the Flyers. Push comes to shove they'll sell off Roenick cheaply enough that someone will accept his contract.

Clarke has had a brilliant offseason, no two ways about it. He shored up his defense in a big way, jettisoned two huge contracts for two underperforming players, acquired the league's best center, and he walks into next year's draft with FOUR second round draft picks and at least 2 third rounders. (Look for the Flyers to move up very high in the first round.)

This is the joke about excusing Glen Sather because he's worked (working) with a "dual agenda." Clarke has built a exceptional base of young talent WHILE maintaining a competitive team. So the lesson here is that you CAN perform a dual agenda - if you're good.

Clearly Sather is not.

If you think the Flyers were ever going to resign Burke, you are way out of touch with this team. With all RFA's resigned, the Flyers are over the cap by an estimated 3 mil. With JR gone, we are under by 2 mil.
