Per Eklund its highly possible from various rumors (e4) a 2 for 2 trade between LAK and MTL.
First of all, its hilarious that Eklund has a rumor scale (from e1 to e5, I think) with e5 being an all but confirmed trade between two clubs. I think its the first time he uses the e4 degree, so I suppose he will hit the target with this one...
Even if he misses out again, I think that there is always time to come up with an e5 rumor next week...
Aside from this, I do believe LAK and MTL are good trade partners. I think that MTL can benefit from some size and grit that LAK can provide, in exchange of some speed and skill that MTL can offer, so I do think that there could be something to work out here. Both clubs will probably make the playoffs but from the middle of the pack, I guess, so some line up changes might suit both well when matching up against the Divisions powerhouses.
Lets take a look at both teams line ups, when healthy...
It certainly looks like LAK should try to get some scoring punch at the LW and they are probably set at C, RW and D. They should probably try to fix the powerplay as well. MTL needs more size at the top-9 and probably more size too at D.
To me available players from MTL should definitely be Briere, Bourque, Diaz and probably Gionta, Gorges, Murray, Bouillon. From LAK, although not very familiar with their availability a good guess in the definitely side would be Lewis, Frattin, Stoll, Martinez and at the probably side Clifford, Fraser, Green.
DL loves trading for guys that played in Philliy, so Briere has to be thought about there. Bourque played for Sutter in Cal, so that's probably on par with how DL and Sutter do things. Guys that have played for them before.
Every time someone posts an Eklund rumor they qualify it with how they know it's probably BS... yet they make sure to give him this publicity and link to him, ensuring that his wallet is further padded and his BS is justified. Think it through, people.
Can't blame you but Bourque still has decent offensive skills if he plays on a 3rd line he can still be of use. So maybe a Bourque for one of Clifford King Lewis Nolan would make sense add better skills for grit. Bourque is just a big lazy mofo but when he gets on about 1 game out of 10 he plays like a 1st line player. A team with depth like the Kings could afford to have Bourque the ghost for the occasional flashes. Not the habs. Anyway i can't see it being a big deal nothing that would make the habs contenders.
I could see Gorges being dealt as well and him fitting the kings system because he plays a similar style to Scuderi.
We are now safe in the knowledge that these two clubs are not going to trade with each other this year.
Did Eklund ever get anything right about the Habs? Actually, did he ever get anything right about any team?
And I'm not talking about ambiguous luck shots ''someone is going to trade something within the next month or so and it might or might not be important!'' or the ''I just checked TSN and...'' E5 ''predictions''.
