Sounds like Craig MacTavish is hard at work today. Dubnyk trade to Preds and perhaps, more action on the goalie front. Stay tuned.
You would think Gagner is all but gone. Wonder if Lou will toss Kinkaid there way. Best goalie in the AHL! Come on Mac T! Do it!!!!

EDM fans are hoping Gagner for Hiller but I doubt it. I would not be surprised in the slightest if Gagner is moved by the end of the day.

A third? That sounds familiar. EDM can get a third back by trading Hemsky to us...

Edmonton has to be the most incompetent franchise in the NHL. I can't think of a franchise who just has no idea what they're doing. This is a trade a team a goaltender away from contending makes. Not a team who should be using every pick they have to sure up their back end.

I suppose you can argue that it's the equivalent of drafting Scrivens, but a 27 year old flash-in-the-pan?

Actually I think it's more Nashville doing what they should have done as soon as Rinne went down injured. They need someone more stable in net to keep them alive until Rinne is healthy again and Trotz had enough with his blowup of Carter Hutton.

And Marek Mazanec's GAA has been climbing up steadily with a bunch of 4 goal games lately.

Brilliant for Nashville, but yeah, Edmonton is an enigma right now.

Good point. Look how it breaks down for Edmonton though:

Dubynk and a 3rd
for
Scrivens and Hendricks

It just doesn't make sense. Two G who are UFAs after the year, so a lateral move I suppose. And you give up a third for...Hendricks? I'm not a fan of picks but for a team like Edmonton to give one up for a UFA goalie whose probably going to sit with Bryz there...

Because they're both UFAs after the year. So you have no problem giving up Hendricks, but you do have a problem giving up a pick (and those years of control).

Edmonton made the dumb move(s) here. And for the life of me I don't get why someone doesn't shake whoever is really in charge there.

id rather get the better goaltender and deal with the overpaid 4th liner some other way

Why was Scrivens good though? Is he actually good or was he playing for a team that would make Dubbie look like Scrivens does now?

Oh boy. Starting to think that rumored Cory package was actually accurate.

Why can't we take advantage of Edmonton? Seriously Lou. If you haven't already give Mac T a call.

I think he looked really solid with the Kings and held his own while Quick was out. sure the Kings are a solid defensive team, but Nashville is also much better defensively than the Oilers

plus, the Oilers just took on an overpaid 4th liner and gave up a 3rd in order to upgrade Dubnyk to Scrivens, so they must like what they see too

Or they're the Oilers.

Dubnyk's save percentages the last 3 years are all pretty damn solid. One bad year on the worst D/worst team in the league and you're selling him for an overpaid 4th liner and flipping a third for a flash-in-the-pan UFA from one of the best teams in the league?

Yikes.

You gotta love the Oilers. Trying to fix their goaltending when their real problem is their defense (both from their dmen and their forwards). I guess they didn't have enough 1st overalls yet. What a joke of a franchise.
