Meh. Klein is nothing special.

Surprised they gave up on Del Zotto so soon and for so little.

Klein is an excellent defenseman. Comparable to 2012 Fayne but with a little more offense (obviously not this season).

Del Zotto is a MAB clone. They got great value for a young Kurtis Foster.

I think they're both losers in this deal.

Nashville is kind of silly for dealing Klein for a D. Unless they're loading up for a Weber trade.

In which case you can have Gelinas, Larsson, and Boucher and Dino BBQ Nashville.

Just the MDZ fall is surprising. They certainly sold low across the river. Clearance sale. MDZ must go.

Because of Jones' emergence, they had three RH D in their top 4 which isn't quite ideal. It's a little strange that having three LH D in your top 4 isn't unusual, but with RH it is. RH are typically harder to find and pretty much grow up playing on their strong side.

I've been reading that Del Zottos agent asked Sather months ago for a trade out of NY
thats part of the reason they didnt get much more back

So if Nashville is going full rebuild with their D what sense does it make to keep Shea Weber around?

Every team would want him.....but no team wants his contract

Montreal is free-falling, I bet Lou swaps a player with them
(they have a few washed up veterans he loves so much)

Heck I'd take it. Nash has already paid the worst of it (whatever the 14 million a year nonsense for three years is).

We just really really don't have the pieces. Especially considering they wouldn't want D back.

Though Seth Jones, Adam Larsson, Eric Gelinas would be one heck of a young D core

Weber would be a perfect Devil I think too, but he's locked up till 2026....thats 12 more years, crazy, I know Nashville HAD to give him that because Philly screwed around, but yikes

The final 3 years look like Kovalsuck's contract....I bet they don't get penalized, though.

I'm not being a homer here, but we got the shaft from Bettman on that contract
there are/were a few really really bad contracts out there that went through scott-free

That's why I take him. The latter portion of his contract is a steal if he ages even the slightest bit well. His last year is his age 41 season.

Of course the latter portion is a steal, PSEG.

It looks like Circumvention.

If Weber retires at 38, I believe you're hit with some pretty hefty cap recapture penalties though.
