I see Scrivens as a pick up to acquire that big-name goalie.

Now Reimer to Oilers in the summer for Gagner/Petry, and then Oilers run with a tandem of Reimer/Scrivens

Good move for Edmonton actually. Didn't overpay. Scrivens could end up being good for them.

Scrivens is a good goalie. Jones going full time with LA?

Why... The Oilers are 2nd last in the league and they give up a 3rd for Scrivens who's going to be a UFA at the end of the year... Maybe they'll re-sign him, but as it stands, I don't see the point for Edmonton.

I don't mind the deal but I hope that MacT isn't expecting Scrivens to assume the starter role in the future.

I guess if they've decided that Dubnyk wasn't the answer, they might as well take a cheap flyer on Scrivens and if he's not the answer you pay up for a real goalie in the off-season.

Not-so-bold prediction that Scrivens won't be good in Edmonton.

Lol... lateral move at best... a back-up who's hot now going into a terrible situation to be a starter.

I am good with this from a kings POV. We weren't going to re-sign him and I am going to look at that pick as an extremely late 2nd.

Scrivens put up a .917 last season... hardly sucking

So it's Hendricks and Scrivens for Dub and a 3rd... not bad at all.

EDIT: most 3rd round licks don't play in the NHL, so Hendricks playing a 4th line role is equal - dub and scrivens... I think Scrivens is better by a long shot. Oil win the trades today as a whole.

Scrivens didn't suck in Toronto. He had his ups and downs; fairly average.

He's definitely a backup goaltender though because he's very inconsistent. A bit of upside but I don't see much more than that, a good backup. We'll see how he does with the ball though.

Don't understand this.

The Oilers retain 50% on Dubnyk, take on a poor contract (nothing against Hendricks) and trade a third for a marginal upgrade in Scrivens?

What a lateral move. Scrivens isn't a starting goalie, especially not on Edmonton. Improvement on Dubynk I guess but won't make a difference
