Radim Vrbata

Vrbata has quietly been a very consistent offensive player and plays a very similar game to Vanek. Seems like he would be the most obvious trade target as he's an upcoming UFA. What would it take to get Vrbata near the deadline and what do you think Vrbata's future is?

One of the top guys I hope Devils go after .
We need scoring help and have no 1st round pick this year and have no real prospects coming up with top 6 potential besides Boucher.
Losing Parise and Kovalschmuk really set us back.
Have to fill the gaps with free agents and Vrbada is exactly the type of player I hope Lou goes after.

What are the Yotes needs?
Can't see the Devils having what is needed as only thing we have are D man prospects and Yotes already have OEL Yandle and unreal d depth already.

Guessing his value at 1st plus average prospect?

Value. If the Coyotes are trading him at the deadline, it means the playoffs are out of reach. Maloney will look for maximum value, regardless of position.

Probably. I wouldn't bet on him signing anywhere other than Phoenix in the offseason. That didn't go so well last time and he loves it here. So, purely as a rental, a B prospect and a playoff caliber 1st round pick is what it will take.

i highly doubt Vrbata is moved at all. he tried to leave to TB and didnt perform well before coming back to phoenix. pretty sure he will be extended before the trade deadline hits

Edit: XX got here first

He's an excellent player, absolute joke that he didn't make the Olympic team he could easily fetch a 1st if he were moved at the deadline.

Gionta at 50% salary (UFA this summer) and Nathan Beaulieu. Salary comes out about flush and if the habs think they can resign him for ~ 4y/4.5M$ I think it would be worth it as Vrbata seems like he has a few years of good production ahead of him.

Phoenix needs:

1. Acquire a 2nd Vrbata

2. Sign the 1st Vrbata to a 5 year deal

3. Sign the 2nd Vrbata to a 5 year deal

For some reason I'm seeing something around Vrbata and Ryder. It's an odd situation, but maybe the Coyotes decide to cut bait with Vrbata and go a different direction. I know it seems crazy for Coyotes fans to think of, but I get a feeling we could see a slight shift like this.

Would Phoenix have any interest in Matt Niskanen? Dave Tippett is familiar with him and Nisky was really solid for him before Crawford destroyed him and then he was resurrected again by Bylsma. Both are having solid seasons, both are UFA's, etc.

Any Phoenix fan has input on this?

Outside of Phoenix, Vrbata has never been half the player he is as a Coyote. I don't think the team would move him for the sake of moving him. He will likely re-sign.

Also, in what world does Vrbata play a very similar game to Vanek? Their style of play and strengths/weaknesses are practically polar oposites!

Vrbata is a great skater and plays a skilled game. But is a bit of a perimiter player, not good in the corners or in front of the net. He sometimes has consistancy / compete issues.

Vanek is not the best skater out there. But pays the price in the hard areas, like the front of the net, to get goals. Is a shockingly consistant producer, and works his but off.

rather keep Vrbata and try to re-sign him, even if it looks like he'll walk (which I don't see happening), even if the Coyotes are out of the playoffs by then (and I expect them to still be in the picture at the deadline)!!!

They've been trying to 'buy' all season, and I very much doubt they'll give up at the deadline.

Always been a fan of Vrbata. I think he could fetch a semi high 1st round pick, maybe 10-15?

WPG 1st (if we're in playoff hopes so not a top 10 pick) for Vrbata?

I think he stays in Phoenix. Has put up very good numbers for them compared to his other stops in Carolina, Tampa Bay, and Chicago.

No incentive for Phoenix to do this.

1st plus prospect sounds about right.

Throw in a Jimmy Lodge and sure. Assuming we're out of the playoff race of course, as he won't be traded otherwise.

He's so underrated. Would love to see him play alongside Plekanec in Montreal.

He would fetch a 1st rounder for sure at the trade deadline and a prospect.

I'd say ~$4.5M per on a long-term deal.
