lets be clear here too. Guys like Hall, Eberle, have been driving the offense. Nuge has had some good games but he's had 20 easy where he's been an out and out shutdown passenger.
i agree we could really use a #1 C like Spezza or someone like that to do the heavier lifting and let RNH settle into his role. he cant compete with the big C's we play yet. I also feel like Eakins "system" is neutrering RNH on the offensive side, he doesnt drive the play and has rarely, if ever this season, taken over a game offensively. we saw him do it in his rookie year, but not much this year.

Also mildly interesting to note, Dave Pagnotta from TFP said there were a bunch of scouts at the Sabres/Leafs game the other night, including Edm. Who's a better partner out of those two? Honestly I prefer what Buf would have, over Tor; Mcnabb, Erhoff, maybe even Foligno (but tough to pry those younger, physical F out of any team). Gardiner seems like he'd be Schultz redux, though a bit better in the D zone, plus I think we'd have to overpay.

Well the rumours have been that we're talking to TO

If we could somehow pry Cody Eakin out of Dallas I think he would do well here.. Eakin hits, blocks shots, has some offense and works his butt off. not the biggest but he players bigger than he is... Also, it would give Principe some more pun material Eakin Eakins

Didn't RNH just go up against a Crosby & Toews hold his own? The first 20-25 games of the season were a train wreck. I think he's been doing pretty good since then.

He'd be fine if the coaching wasn't so brutal.

Despres is on the outs in Pitt, MacT should be on phone asap. Ducks gave up 5th for Lovejoy last year. Now he's a 20 min guy. Worth risk.

I guess Despres is available according to Gregor. If Oilers can get him cheaply I would be all for it. I want someone that is more proven than him but if it is cheap then yeah sure lets do it.

didn't the Oilers already do that this year with Joensuu?
how many time a year can a team take a chance on a nobody who has done nothing?
not that it matters, with this team, I guess.

Acro is far better than the AHL center scrubs we've had before - why was Acton even on our starting lineup!!! I used to be a hater, but think he's a NHLer... Is he a 2C? Probably not.

And for the record, Lander should not be in the NHL.

Not likely. Wanted Eakins on the Oil for a while now... I guess we could do a Hemsky for Eakins trade IF Dallas was a team the hunt but that's not happening.

Agreed, if a guy who might be a solid fit is there, the Oilers have to make the call. Hell if it's Hemsky(Max salary retention) for Depres (and maybe a 3rd) you’re laughing if you’re the Oilers.

Despres would be great, Olli Maata made him expendable if this rumour is true.

No he was more of a attempted reclamation project that looks like a dud. I think injuries really derailed his season unfortunately.

The need of some posters to hate on a 20 year old kid who came back a month early from major shoulder surgery is disgusting. Especially because the only reason they are doing it it to try to justify the train wreck of a season their favorite player is having while getting gifted easy minutes and undeserved pp time.

Assuming we dish out gagner for something other than a 2C and use lets say Arco for the rest of the season and wait until FA to make a move, how hard should we go after Statsny? I would give 6-6.5 over 3 years. If he wants term we go 5.5 for 5/6 years?

On a serious note, what about Ward and Ruutu for Gagner, Hemsky and picks or prospects.

Both Ward and Ruutu are signed past this year so we would really only need to shore up our D core in the off season.

I'd be ok with a Ward and Scrivens tandem. Ruutu gives us a big body up front that can play on the 2nd or 3rd line.

Maybe the Canes have an internal salary cap that could benefit the Oilers.

Not sure where, probably on twitter, but I read that Rutherford would only consider moving Ward for a significant return. I would think that means more along the lines of Eberle instead of Hemsky with Gagner, but the Canes also need more help on D then in the top six. Really don't see Ward coming here for what we could realistically offer

Hope we trade Yak and he's successful else where. May be what it takes to get rid of Eakins.

If we trade Nail for Reimer MacT deserves to be neutered with a rusty sardine can. On the other hand, Cox deserves that fate just for posting that BS!
