Jets at Flames: January 16

View Poll Results: Speaking of coaching changes, who do you want behind the bench next year?
Hartley, only Hartley, and no one but Hartley. 19 42.22%
Not Hartley. Anyone but Hartley. I would rather Harvey the Hound coach this team than Hartley. 5 11.11%
Fine with Hartley, but there's one or two other guys I'd prefer if we could get them 21 46.67%

and even they wouldnīt be top-6 on most teams...

I love how we went from having a 3rd jersey that made the team play better, to having a 3rd jersey that is cursed.

The fact that we have arguably 0 top 6 wingers.

I don't drink when I'm sad. It makes me sad.

Galiardi is a marginally less stupid Comeau. I wonder how he scored almost 40 points in Colorado the same way I used to wonder how Comeau ever scored 24 goals playing for the Islanders.

I disagree here. Hudler is a clear top 6 forward. After that though, Calgary has no one.

Hudler fits that bill.

Stempniak about 50% of the time (When he's on)

Have you tried putting your arms in the air and waving them like you just don't care? Because that's what all of the music industry seem to prescribe along with alcohol. According to their videos it seems to do the trick.

Makes sense... Although we can look on the brightside, we are not losing 9-1 like the Canucks last night

Most frustrating thing is that Galiardi played well to start the season. Just look at his goal against Columbus. That was what I wanted to see more of.

Kinda sad really.

Colborne - 3rd line winger at best
Westgarth - 4th line winger at best
McGrattan - Arguably not even a 4th liner.
Bouma - 3rd line winger at best
Stempniak - CAPABLE 2nd line winger, ideally 3rd line.
Hudler - Top 6 winger, 2nd line is ideal.
Byron - 3rd line winger at best.
Galiardi - 3rd line winger at best.

I hope Colborne gets moved back to center, and Galiardi and Stempnaik are dealt. Not a fan of Galiardi at all.

Is Winnipeg not a big team? Only Brian Little and Matt Halischuk are forwards less than 6-0 (and they are 5-11). Even on defense, only Enstrom (5-10) and Clitsome (5-11) are < 6 ft. Worries me a bit in that this is the kind of team I can see Burke building in 3-5 years only to have them play like the Jets. They have big forwards like Ladd and Wheeler, big defensemen like Bogosian and Big Buff. And yet... no results.

Yeah, Burkes obsession with size worries me.

Sounds dangerous! I was hoping Ozzy or someone would come in and attack them, but it never happened.

Winnipeg's problems go a lot further than size. They had lousy coaching, weak depth up the middle and porous goaltending. Firing Noel was a step in the right direction. Now they need to find a legitimate number one goalie and hope Scheifele pans out as a top line centre.

Let's not get carried away with this. Burke values size because he wants a team that can stand up to anyone, not because he wants every player to stand up to anyone. He built a team around Phil Kessel. He has room in the team for Gaudreau. He has no problem with Paul Byron playing a prominent role. Burke wants a team like Anaheim or LA, not a team like Winnipeg.

Despite a disappointing period, pretty good play from Monahan in the first.

Galiardi is a much better player than what he is currently showcasing. I would say this is much of an off season for him this year, as it was the same for Gio last season.
