In the shoot out yeah plenty. For example he did the same move the he used last season or two season ago where he scored from below the goal line. But he didn't score so no one talked about it. I haven't seen too much of it in games though.

Maybe we need to look at out Captain who has 5 points in his last 9 games. And how many of those are ES?

I remember from last year in a game vs the Jets, he and Stamkos didn't shoot guys they are both so bad at shootouts, yet GoonLogic uses him every time ?

Mason didn't get out-played tonight and he hasn't been "consistently" getting outplayed by backups either (not that goalies even play each other -- focus on how the goalie plays the shooters).

Yeh.

1 point would have been great at that point... or with 5 mins left.

Tied with NYR and Toronto in points now... still in 5th in the east, but with a game in hand.

Montreal and Colorado hopefully help out with wins tonight!

He ran his backhand into the ground early this year when he kept doing it & it got too predictable for the opposing goalies. He switched up to forehand more after that.

All of this Raffl hate is beginning to remind me of all of the hate that Hartnell got at the beginning of the year. "Move Hartnell off Giroux's line, he sucks!" It's funny now that Hartnell has been more productive at even strength for the last little while than Giroux or Voracek has.

Surely Raffl needs to play better and start converting some chances, but I'd look towards Giroux and Voracek for that line being invisible way before I'd blame a rookie who is playing way up in the lineup.

IN games. He literally can't create any space for himself out there anymore.

0-7. if they had taken 4 of those they'd be ahead of both the flyers and rangers in the standings.

similarly, toronto is 9-4. 37.5% of their wins have come in the shootout.

The first line needs a shakeup now. Maybe Hartnell gets another shot there and Raffl goes to the third line.

Hutton was more motivated; he was playing for his NHL existence. Mason nearly got it done but we as a fanbase never give the opponent any credit. Berube went with Vinny since it worked before, and he went with Raffl to give him a chance to redeem himself and both decisions failed. G and Simmonds were oh so close. 1 point is much better than 0.

With this upcoming schedule, losing this point could really hurt.

Need 8 of next 10 pts IMO. This should of been easy once we got to shoot out.

How is vinny going to win it on the first shot. Mason had a chance to step up. Several chances. And he couldn't.

Vs non scoring shoot out D men. After Brayden and. Couts scored, a starter has to win that extra point especially vs the level of shooters he faced.

It isn't "hate" to say the guy is being used in the wrong role. Raffl had a 4-game run that caused a lot of people to suddenly re-imagine who he was as player and forget all of their previous (much more realistic) expectations.

Raffl's defensive coverage far exceeds his offensive skills and instincts. He's costing us goals with below replacement-level offensive production in the 1LW spot when he could be preventing goals in a more appropriate checking role. I'm not angry with Raffl, it's Berube who perplexes me on this.

Amazingly frustrating game. I was about to turn it off 55 times or so.

Mason saved the first four shots. Therefore any of the Flyers first four shooters could have won the game, but they all failed.

Need to get things on track and going very soon otherwise dropping these points is really going to kill them.

Mason was merely average during the game, but he got embarrassed by the last 3 shootout attempts, he should've had at least one of those, if not all of them.

Either way, they need a mix up of the forward lines. They have their 4 best forwards (Giroux, Voracek, Schenn Simmonds) being dragged down by 2 players (Raffl, Hartnell), they need to mix it so so they have at least one line full of good players. Maybe they should try swapping Raffl to the 3rd line and Read to the 1st if the 2nd line is untouchable?

The 2nd PP unit is worse than Hitler.

Couturier is also impressing me less and less every single game. His offense is looking bad and his defense isn't even looking as good anymore.

Mez needs to go, the positives of his limited offense don't make up for the negatives of his defense.

Hartnell is still bad, quote his recent stats all you want, he's been benefitting from Schenn and Simmonds great play, he's still doing more harm than good.

Cullen and Ellis both made high-quality attempts, no matter what their prestige factor is. How many career shootout goals did Schenn and Couturier have? Does that make their goals less impressive too?

What are the odds that Giroux, Read, Lecavalier and Raffl combine to go 0-for-4? There's no way to hone in on Mason for the shootout loss and still be even-handed.

not that he's done anything particularly to deserve 1C, but why not go with:

Giroux-Lecavilier-Voracek
Hartnell-Schenn-Simmonds
Raffl-Couturier-Read
Downie-Hall-VandeVelde
