Allison would be a nice addition to this team. Hope it is true, but I don't expect it to be..

edit- hopefully the Aliison rumour was just bull
It's a 1 year contract. anything under a million is fantastic. 1 mil - 1.5 is fair. if gets close to 2 million or over 2 i'll start to get angry.

ps Rowley, you wanted Lang, but would be angry with 30 yr old Allison? yea he's an injury liability, but if he stays healthy he's a pt per game player. a year off probably helped him.

unfortunately Allison is going to sign in toronto.

1 year... now the question is "how much" and do they have to give him the AARP discounts at the team store?

Not a bad 6-7 guy, but I'd rather have had Patrick.

Oh... wait... maybe they mean to have both.

Well it won't be the same next year. If we try to do D first then we are screwed. If we would have added a huge D like Hammer then we could have played like Ottawa but we got Dandy
lol

The Allison thing is crap.

And the AP release isn't too promising:

Quote:
The Sabres have been eager to bolster their defence after losing workhorse Alexei Zhitnik, who signed with the New York Islanders this week. Numminen is projected to join Dmitri Kalinin and Jay McKee as the Sabres' top three defencemen.
I hope not.

I think Tallinder/Numminen is a very nice 3rd pairing though...

I know, a healthy allison feeding the puck to vanek and max would be beautiful. considering the question marks surrounding his health, id offer him 3 mil per for 2 years and see what that does.

Yeah, those two would be valuable to help bring our young, promising defensemen along...oh, wait..

Yuck, why? I like Patrick, but at least Numminen has a little upside and can still log valuable minutes, maybe even QB the PP unit.

Fantastic, I can't wait to hear DR spin this one.

That being said, I still have some faith..

I wouldn't be angry with signing Allison, i just think it would be a waste of money. And i think Lang is a better player, a better skater, and a better finisher not to mention he's bigger.

But my main problem with Allison is the injury history. Its shocking. Thats why i wouldn't mind Toronto getting him, and wasting cap room on a guy that will be lucky to play half the games.

I recall Stars fans being fairly critical that he has lost most of his once-strong skating ability. If he can still make a crisp first pass and avoid the forecheck, sure. Both are workout fanatics, sure, yet I have a feeling Patrick would sign for substantially less.

As it is, it's not a bad pickup unless they're looking for 18+ minutes a night.

Just wanted to say that I was a huge Teppo fan a few years ago, nearly got his name on my PHO jersey. I'm not crazy about the signing, but I do think that he's got something left in the tank, even if it's not nearly what he had when he put up 57 points in PHO. He'd look nice on a second pairing, and don't forget that he did average 21 minutes per game with Dallas. Granted that was 2 years ago now, but I think he's still good for 15 or so.

As far as Jason Allison, I wouldn't mind seeing him in Buffalo, as long as we trade away a couple of our excess forwards for that top pairing d-man that every team is looking for, except for....well, I guess it is every team.

Just my thoughts.

I reckon he'll end up as a steal. A solid 15minutes a night, 20 in bigger games. Solid but unspectacular.
But with a cheap pricetag. Besides, he's 37. It's not like hes 42 like Chelios or MacInnis.

Numminen at 1 year makes good sense to me. No replacement for Zhitnik of course, but he should help out, definitely.

If it wasn't for the heart condition, I'd be totally happy with this signing. Then again, if it wasn't for the heart condition, he'd probably be priced out of our market.

With Gonchar getting 5 million,Foote getting 4.5,I guess I do see Darcy's logic, get a serviceable D-man for 1 year, and then next year with more money to spend, you could invest in a younger guy like Wade Redden...

2 million is fine. Teppo's knowledge and demeanor is worth half of that.

Ta,

Indeed. With the going rate what it is in the market thus far, it suits me.
