In a year and a bit Bob bolts to another team for an even higher cap hit.

Here's the base salaries of the other goalies in the league. This isn't a bad deal.

Considering he'll still be a RFA... nope.

Don't really think he earned it yet. Would have thought a bridge deal of 2 years, under or at most $3m per. Who knows with cap going up tho what salaries will /should be.

But, Uhhh....does Holmgren know what a counteroffer is or does he just green light everything?

could have offer-sheeted Reimer for less/equal money - feel bad for Flyers fans

Feel bad for you if you think Reimer is a better goalie then Mason.

No Flyers fan would want Reimer over Mason.

Given the way the cap ceiling is headed, as in up at least 10% next year! one should compare this 4.1m to the equal of $3.75m this season. Which I think is a decent contract for a #1 goalie who has some risk.

Contracts are going to be going up. Ex. Reaves in STL a decent 4th liner who would usually get at most 950k, got 1.125m... It's market inflation.

Not a bad contract at all. I think he'll earn it by the end of the year

But Masons is a 3yr deal vs. 2 year for Bob, and Bob will need to be qualified at $5.6m.

I don't comparing the two guys just because they swapped teams, but they are comparable as they are similar in being one season wonders to date, who are also currently #1 goalies... With risk.

Bobrovsky has had a solid season this year. As has Mason. I think the one season wonder thing is gone for both of them.

Yeah, two good months got Bob the Vezina and a $5.625m cap hit.

His SV% in January and February last season was 0.899.
