I predict 6 more wins before the deadline. 2 wins at the end there so we can feel confident that we're turning things around or as CHED would say, 4 of the last 6.

We're turning a corner.

I expect Ottawa to have their crap together by that point, not only that but that would mean we win 2 in a row.

I do think we match up well against Tampa for some reason, so pencil me in for a win against them instead of Ottawa.

We don't seem to make any progress from the start of the season. If anything, it's been regression. I'll just chuck out a record of 12-21-7.

Traded out: Hemsky, N. Schultz
Traded in: No idea honestly
Finish: 28th
Yakupov: yes
Olympics: Hemsky
Step it up: Gagner, but only because he can't possibly stay as bad as he's been. I expect Yakupov to be given more of a chance to succeed in the 2nd half, PP minutes and 2nd line time with Hemsky's trade. I also think J. Schultz will get better (see: Gagner)
Stumble and fall: Who's high to be able to 'fall'? Hall and Eberle are the only 2 players on this team that haven't significantly regressed and I don't see them getting worse by the end of the season.

Record over the next 40 games: about the same as it was over the first 40, this team has made exactly ZERO progress all season, I see no reason to expect anything else the rest of the way

Predict the players traded out and players coming in: out - Hemsky, potentially N. Schultz, in - no idea, potentially nobody

Where will the oilers finish in the overall standings: 28th or 29th

Will Yakupov finish the season with the oilers: yes, say what you will about macT but he isnt' stupid, and trading Yakupov would be monumentally stupid... the only way I see Yak leaving is if he asks for a trade

Which oilers make their respective olympic teams? nobody on Canada, likely Hemsky for Czech

which oiler player will step it up in the second half? RNH will likely be a little better as he comes into form after his shoulder injury and gains more experience... I don't see anybody else really stepping their game up though

Which player will stumble and fall? the only players that are "playing high" right now are Hall and Perron, so they are the only ones who can therefore stumble... Hall is a beast so i don't expect anything negative from him... Perron will likely not maintain his current pace though

they'll go about .500 in points, not in wins. Yak will not be moved. no significant player transactions. no real NHLers coming in. Gagner will be better in garbage time, like always, and will convince Mact not to move him for a more useful players.

I'm interested to see how they are going to hype the next season, without any changes, another 18 year old and 2 rookie D. How are they posssibly going to spin it as 'the season with a playoff hope'. should be good for a few laughs.

prediction: top 7 pick in 2015.

My prediction.. We will play good enough to finish 1 spot higher than Flames who will snatch Ekblad one pick before us

We will draft another project who would be 3 yrs away from becoming a regular NHLer.

7 thrown remote controls (into a soft chair it doesn't break). 92 disgusted channel changes or TV turn offs. Much cursing and a lack of desire to talk about the team.

Ales Hemsky somewhere, return hard to peg down, hoping for a roster player or NHL ready prospect that better fits the team.

The last few trade deadlines indicate that we should be able to get a 2nd round pick back for Nick Schultz. Besides Tommy Gilbert and maybe Dan Girardi, the market for UFA rental defenseman isn't great: Tallinder, Klesla, Nikitin, Hainsey, Stuart & Butler are the notables.

I think we will be worse in the second half
Something like 10 wins in the final 40 games sounds realistic given the tough schedule and our tendency to fall apart in the second half of a season.

@EdmontonJack 3h Now THIS is a tough back-to-back...SJ and ANA have ONE regulation loss combined in 35 home games this year. Sharks are 14-1-3 at SAP Center.
Well it doesn't look like it will start off well...but i mean they have ONE loss right...

SO YOURE SAYING THERES A CHANCE?!

We're gonna get killed.

Draft 3rd overall, Hall demands a trade, Dubnyk is resigned to a 5 year 20 million dollar deal, Lowe gets a raise, Yak goes home...anything else go wrong with this ****ing season?

Which oilers make their respective olympic teams? Hemsky

which oiler player will step it up in the second half? Yak and Ference
