Where were you moment - 2010

now that the olympics are around the corner, it'd be cool to revisit where we were when Sid scored the golden goal

i'll start - i was watching from 3am - 7am Champs Sports bar in Wan Chai in Hong Kong together with plenty of other canadians and a handful of american supporters.
awesome memory!

where will I be this year - same place

GoCanadaGo!

I was in a movie theatre that was playing the game on multiple screens instead of movies, whole place went wild after the goal.

In my man cave/hockey den. I could be heard for miles. I will probably be in the same place this time around. I don't like watching hockey with other people when it is on TV.

I was at a friends place. There was 5 or 6 of us and we went nuts, hugging each other jumping up and down, high fives. We decided to head downtown to Dundas Square to join in the post game celebrations. It was CRAZY!! I can't imagine how nuts this city is going to get when the Leafs win the Cup wow!. Can't wait for the tournament to begin!!

Tried to make it from from my house to to the rink for my game (where they would have a TV) to watch the OT period between the 3rd and OT. Hit a patch of ice and put my car over the side of the road into the ditch. Did not make it to the rink for the OT period. Was on the side of the road with my car and got a call from a friend telling my Sid scored the OT winner.

I was at a friend's house with a couple of people.

That night's notable event was a collective "****".

I was *AT* the game.

Section 326, top row... but it didn't matter. I was ****ing there! And it's still likely the best moment of my life.

Best of all, I didn't pay to see the game and was in fact PAID to see the game.

I was at work, missed pretty much the whole game. One of the bartenders came back to the kitchen and said the game was in OT. I poked my head out the kitchen to see the tv literally right as Iginla made the pass to him. Pretty good timing I'd say

It was my last season of youth hockey, just got finished getting back into street clothes to find all the parents huddled around this little tv in the pro shop (I'm pretty sure they were there the whole time instead of watching their children) just in time to see the the devastating goal (my team had just lost as well)

I was in my living room ready to flip the coffee table and hurl something at the TV.

That's unreal. Probably the next best thing to being there. I was trying to remember that I was at a friend's house and couldn't break everything in sight.

I was at a condo at Yonge and Lakeshore with about 15 friends. After they won we took to the streets (Yonge) and had an amazing party with hundreds of thousands of people. Cops were high-fiving people, I got brought into a street hockey game on Yonge, a street meat cart gave me 10 free hotdogs for my friends, people were crowd surfing. I have never seen so many happy people in one place. Just incredible. Got home some time around 5am and the party was still going on outside.

I was alone in my mancave, which is where I'll be again if it happens this year. There's no way I can be around people in a game of that magnitude.

In a hostel in London, UK. There were three of us Canadians, no Americans (that stayed to watch), and quite a few others who were largely non-hockey fans but cheered for Canada (except one guy who cheered for the USA just to be different.)

Driving to and back from my GF's place...no radio in the van.

On the way back I noticed people on their lawns, waving the flag.

Was Downtown Vancouver for a lot of the games.

I have to agree with this.

While it was amazing to be surrounded by fellow fans, cheering and celebrating, I felt like I missed a lot of the game because of all the distractions around me.

It might sound anti-social, but I think i'll enjoy watching the games at home this year, on my HDTV with surround sound opposed to watching on a lower quality big screen, or an HDTV from really far away, while standing the whole time and not being able to hear the sound.

Some people are just in it for the party and celebration, whereas I actually want to enjoy watching the game and don't want to miss a single play or call.

With two friends at the St. Regis pub in Vancouver (Dunsmuir/Seymour). Afterwards we used my work keycard to climb on top of the Dunsmuir overpass right off Granville, smashed our way through a flat of Kokanee and waved the Canadian flag at the horde of hockey fans below for a couple hours while they screamed back at us.

Kandahar province Afghanistan. They flew out a satellite and tv to our combat outpost so we could watch the Olympics.

The Afghan troops sleeping in their tent thought we were being ambushed because of all the screaming lol.

I was 14, with my parents in the living room. It's still my best hockey memory!
