Poll: Which Country Wins Gold?

Please no assumptions from patriotism or affiliations, just vote for whoever you think will rationally or most likely win, not because you live in a different country.

Try to make a post to explain your choice.

My Reasoning...

Everything points to Canada making it to the Semi's without having to break a serious sweat. At which point, 2 tough wins equal Gold.

I also think we have the best team - and by a significant margin.

In such a short tourney, hard to not pick the best team on paper, Canada, although I think they will suffer the most among the favourites from complacency.

USA if they play Quick, I think he will steal them games and win them the Gold.

But Go Canada!

I say Russia folds under pressure. USA will be a hard team to beat.

Canada for the win.

Did you even read what I said? These votes are supposed to be rational after careful deliberation.

Sweden, Finland, Czech & Slovakia are all formidable opponents that will not be taken lightly!

But I really believe Russia will $h** their pants again, like in 2010. The pressure will be TOO MUCH for them , like they'll be afraid to be sent to Siberia if they screw up.

Tough question. I like Canada's forwards and D but if they get into a tight checking game I'm not super confident in their goaltending. USA's Quick can steal a game against anyone, as can Lundqvist. Finland and Czech Rep, IMO, falls short. I think Russia will be a big disappointment as they were in 2010.

My gut says Canada. Just for the fact that they'll be throwing Crosby then Toews then Tavares then Getzlaf & Perry at their opponent. I think that will just be too relentless. You can throw your best shutdown guys at Crosby and cancel him out but the star power just keeps coming.

In a one-game playoff anything can happen. I could see Sweden or USA also taking gold.

Canada has the best team, as in individual players, by far.

Their B-team would beat most other teams. Heck, they could even ice a C-team that could compete for a medal.

But, as Finland many times show us, the ability to play as a team and reach 100% of your abilities, is more important than individual players under-performing and not reaching their potential.

Canada has the best defence and forwards, and is tied with Finland & USA for best goalies.
Going strictly by that, I'd say that Canada's chance of winning the gold is around 40%, while USA, Russia, Sweden has a 10% chance each - and then the other teams share the remaining 30% chance.

Canada on paper. USA goaltending could steal it though.

if Canada gets going quick, its their's to lose. If they come out of the gate slow I see Finland's strong goaltending and team game winning.

Canada should win.

They have the best team in terms of talent.

It's a single knockout elimination when it gets down to the nitty gritty though.

Anyone could take it.

If Canada can't win it I'll take Finland cause they're a real scrappy bunch.

You should Get back to reality. Canada is out of semi finals at World Championship 4 years in row. 2012 and 2013 rosters were obviously like their B teams.
