Colorado is adding toughness

They just added Brad May and looking from what the Avs are not doing in the free agent market they seem to be looking to add team toughness. That is something I am a little worried about with our concussion prone lineup. We need a bruiser who plays every day. Oliwa or Roy would of been nice.

Oliwa went o NJ and Roy to Pitts. Boulton signed with Atlanta.

The only guys left are Rob Ray, Jim McKenzie, Peter Worrell and maybe Todd Simspon (not really an enforcer). A few teams might be willing to move a guy ie, Atlanta who has Brennan, Lessard, and now Boulton or St Louis who has Downey and Low.

Matt Johnson is done with hockey. He has a bad shoulder that needs a lot fo rehabbing and said he considering retiring and is done being an NHL enforcer.

I wouldn't really call Brad May an enforcer.

Why are the Kings the one team afraid to carry a legitimate enforcer? This is very frustrating when the ducks make moves to get tougher and the sharks already have Parker why are we standing pat? Boulton was cheap and would have helped. I hope to god theyre in talks with Worrell.

Because we have Ryan Flinn, who is an enforcer when he's not on the DL.

The problem is AM won't ever play Flinn. He spends 99% of his time in Manchester.

I'll throw in 20 bucks for Worrell if it's only about the money.

so since DT has said specifically that he wanted to sign an enforcer...does this mean that we may see Peter Worrell in a Kings jersey soon? This is the kind of enforcer who truly makes a difference beucase he is just so intimidating

Colorado isn't the only team getting tougher:

"Tampa Bay Lightning get bigger and lot more meaner with Mitch Fritz on board
TAMPA, Fla. (CP) - The Tampa Bay Lightning got meaner and a lot bigger Friday.

The Stanley Cup champion signed six-foot-eight, 258-pound left-winger Mitch Fritz to a one-year contract. The 24-year-old spent last season with Springfield of the AHL, collecting three goals, one assist and 179 penalty minutes in 45 games."

Ouch.

Sorry to reply to my own post...

Just saw this:

http://www.nhl.com/news/2005/08/232122.html
'Domi turned down a more lucrative offer from another team - three years for $4.5 million US - to stay with the Leafs, a source said.'

I guess other teams are wanting to get tougher as well. I really can't remember an offseason recently when so many goons were making the news.

I hope DT is paying attention!

first Turgeon. then Brisebois. maybe next they'll re-up with Damphousse (wait, did they buy him out?), and sign LeClair. then continue to fill their roster with the rest of the 93 Canadiens. sheesh.

c'mon guys... you sweatin' Brad May? let Lacroix continue to sign junk. Lappy/Hinote/May ain't exactly making me shiver.

new rules new game, gentlemen... game is gonna be much faster with no red line... you can't hit what you can't catch!

Exactly. Murray will only play middleweights like Cowan and Tripp who take beatings instead of the big boys. He frustrates the hell out of me.

McKenzie, Worrell, Rob Ray, Todd Simpson all still out there along with Brad Norton. Possibly Franky Lessard or Kip Brennan available at the waiver draft since Buffalo signed Boulton. There are options...

I'd sign Worrel and put him on the 4th line with Belanger and Avery.

Disagree. Hitting will be back in a major way. Especially when those long break out passes come into play. Watch out for those elbows on open ice!

As for those powder puff signings, I agree.

But picking up May was a great move. He can take on any customer, and usually comes out on top. Lappy is also insane, and i'll miss him.
