I think keeping Ryan would have given Anaheim a better chance to win the cup this year. Perreault/Ryan could have possibly been an amazing combo. If we're going all in with keeping Hiller, I don't see why they wouldn't have done the same with Ryan. It's like they do it half way this year and I am a bit confused if were all in this year or they think we actually have a better chance without the old guys next year.

I don't know if some of the Sens fans are serious with the whole, Silfverberg is a healthy scratch so he must suck line of thinking.

it seems like getzy does not care for bobby ryan, when he was asked about him last night not making team USA he gave an awkward answer, not one typical of someone you're tight with

Surprised but I wouldn't go that far based off his answer.

4 of the 5 "yes" voters are Ottowa fans lol.

Edit: Damn you Lord Flashheart

Are they saying yes they want to take back becasue they dont like the trade or are they trying to make it look like the Ducks fans want Ryan back? lol

We'll see what Silfverberg can bring when he's got a healthy year and some lineup stability. As well as getting away from his damned sophomore year.

I voted on theirs, if anything Ottawa is my 2nd favorite team. I keep an interest in their team and honestly (in hindsight) If I was Ottawa I think they'd benefit keeping silf, noesen and their first. I like bobby but I don't see him as taking that team to the next level enough to warrant sacrificing that much of their future. Obviously their fans disagree with me and both teams are happy with what they got but I would have found another way to boost the offense if I was Murray.

I completely disregarded that could be a possibility.

As it stands, it seems like Anaheim is a little more satisfied with the trade, than Ottawa is. I didn't like it when it was announced, and I like it even less now (as a fan of Ottawa).

As long as the Sens get him locked up long term, you guys will be fine.

Hey guys, first time poster but long time lurker and Ducks fan, I just wanted to add my two cents.

In my opinion the only thing that made this trade worth it is that Ryan was planning on leaving after the season, and even if he decided to stay he would be asking for a price from us that we can't afford. The trade was necessary because we got the best we could for him at the time. People are only happy with the trade because Ducks are doing so well right now. Silfverberg has been okay and we don't know how good the two first round picks will be. But if Ryan wanted to stay for an extension and for a good price, I would want to keep him, and here's why;

It's obvious that the Ducks as a team has improved as a whole this season compared to last season. Each player has stepped up it seems, especially Getzlaf and Perry. The confidence and momentum has been circling this team right now like a good energy, and I think that's why everyone has been stepping it up. Who's to say Ryan wouldn't have improved also? I think we would be dominating even harder with him on the team. If Ryan didn't work out well on the first line with Getzlaf and Perry again, we have enough depth to switch him to another line. I think it could look something like this:

Penner - Getzlaf - Perry

Ryan - Bonino - Palmieri

Winnik - Koivu - Cogliano

Belesky - Perreault - Selanne/Maroon

But everyone stepped up pretty much right when Boudreau took over... I don't think you can really use that excuse for Ryan. I mean, we can say what if as many times as we'd like, but he had more than enough time to adapt under Boudreau and never could find easy chemistry with anyone the way that most of our players are now.

Glad Ryan was traded. Return was good value. Wish it had more "now" factor, or addressed C or D.

It was one and a half seasons under Boudreau, for some people that may not be enough time to adapt. Regardless, Ryan was still one of the better players. Boudreau has been rotating lines around to see which ones would work out the best, we wouldn't know if Ryan would fit in better with another line. It's not like Silfverberg is playing any better than him, the Ducks are just doing something right this season.

Time will tell though; Silfverberg is still a prospect and we don't know his full potential yet, along with the other 2 rookies.

Ryan got plenty of chances on other lines, he never showed the ability to anchor a line by himself a la Getzlaf or Perry.

I'm sorry, but you can't wait 1.5 seasons for your 3rd highest paid player to adapt, and he should be rightfully expected to adapt quicker then that. Nearly every player played far better under BB then RC, except pretty much Ryan, we all thought the coach was the problem, but the biggest problem was Ryan himself.

Silfverberg may not be putting up the same point totals, but he's easily been a better fit for this team so far, for me.

Personally, and I know I'm not the only one, but I was sick and tired of watching Ryan be Ryan. There is no denying the dynamic things he can do with the puck, but only noticing him for 2 plays out of an entire game is simply unacceptable for a player of his skill set. At least with Silfverberg, I notice him every single game because of his relentless hustle and 2-way play.

Lack of effort, and being in the wrong place at the wrong time is not something we have had to complain about much at all this year regarding our forwards.

Penner is the only one who comes close, but usually it is a result of him being tired or whatever.

I remember Bobby having problems with this stuff all the time. His effort and poor positioning were constantly infuriating to me. Last season I said "Bobby Effing Ryan" enough that my wife (who doesn't watch too many games with me) would even say it.

I will take the trade again if given the option. Silvferberg will always put in the effort, and go where he needs to go.

No, look where the Ducks are in the standings.

Silfverberg adds depth and the first and Noesen are trade chips for any help needed at the deadline.

Cap relief getting Bobby off the books.

Penner fills his role for less $ and with better chemistry with Getz and Perry.

Great trade for Ducks.
