While my handball team would love a bunch of 3-3.5* players right now, they are completely useless to my soccer and hockey teams. I haven't drafted a 3.5* player in hockey in a while, and I promised myself I wouldn't do it any more in soccer either, but I tried one more time this week. Unsurprisingly, he ain't gonna make the team or sell for much. If they don't at least sell for a million, they aren't worth the extra player transfer, so I'm done bothering with them in soccer now too.

So, if I don't scout an A player, I'm highly unlikely to show up for future drafts unless I've got nothing better to do and feel like picking an unscouted 6/6 in the first round, and unscouted 5/6's in the next four rounds and hoping to get lucky. I suspect most other I.1 teams will come to the same conclusion, so it would be a bummer if what could be a fun draft event gets mostly ignored for lack of quality players.

There are in each draft. These could be As disguised as Bs, Cs, or Ds. We won't know until they arrive. My advice: when it comes to the late rounds, pick positions and C/L that you'd want if they happened to be a gem. 6/6 U W C-potential etc.

Can someone give me a quick recap on when the "tanking" penalty comes into effect at the end of the season?

I'm planning to start a camp which will decimate my team strength while the majority of my team is in camp. Trying to make sure I don't inadvertently trigger the penalty.

Drafted players are available and mine look like this:

Round 1; Pick 3: G, B, 6/6, L; 3*, 292 OR
Round 2; Pick 38: D, B, 6/6, R; 3*, 235 OR
Round 3; Pick 43: D, B, 6/6, L; 2.5*, 315 OR (3* at G)
Round 4; Pick 74: C, C, 6/6, L; 1.5*, 239 OR
Round 5; Pick 79: D, C, 5/6, L; 3*, 268 OR

For reference, my managers are at 28% scouting efficiency and I'm at HR-15.

This weekend's handball pull:

My first overall selection, an A-rated RW, showed up under 400 OR and 3*.

I'm biting my tongue here.

B players were 2.5*, C with 1.5* and D with 1*.

Very disappointed I must say, especially since my scouts are 100% accurate.

Round 1; Pick 3: W, A, 5/6, L; 3.5*, 306 OR (Dylon Wheeler)
Round 2; Pick 38: W, B, 6/6, U; 2.5*, 224 OR (Clyde Farnsworth)
Round 3; Pick 43: D, C, 6/6, L; 1.5*, 146 OR (Dave Brooks)
Round 4; Pick 74: W, C, 5/6, R; 2.5*, 227 OR (Greg Glass)

Well... that was useless. Wheeler is alright I guess. Meh.

HR13 and 23% scouting

Round 1; Pick 4: C, B, 5/6, L; 3.5*, 314 OR (Bryan Root)
Round 2; Pick 37: W, B, 6/6, L; 2.5*, 277 OR (Mark Sullivan)
Round 3; Pick ??: D, B, 6/6, L; 3*, 234 OR (Millard Reno)
Round 4; Pick ??: D, B, 6/6, L; 3.5*, 371 OR (Pete something... Rudd?)

Yep. I got my best player in round 4. I almost didn't pick him. In the 3rd round, I still had 3 Bs left. I took a gamble on Reno (teehee), then started looking at the unscouted players hoping to find a gem. I was kind of shocked when I looked up and he was still there. I almost told the draft chat that he was a B after I made my 3rd round pick because I assumed he would be taken before my last pick.

The first guy was an A according to Camrawrn, but I noticed he was a B when looking at the draft earlier today. Or maybe it was an A before the re-scouts. Or something. I don't know.

They deleted the damn draft already. I thought that would be around for a while, maybe even until the next draft. Cam or tesco, did either of you write down how many of each grade we had in total?

EDIT:And Pete Russ is a piece of crap. Unscouted 97Def 47P/57T/61A.

Bryan Root isn't quite as bad, but still useless for my team. 79Off 91S/63P/88T.

Round 1: Jim Ralston 3 3.5 3.5 3.5 290 OR, B (was A before change)
Round 2: Ralp Marcus 4.5 4 2.5 2.5 264 OR, B (was A before change)
Round 3: Allan Walker 2 2 3 3.5 289 OR, B
Round 4: York Pugh 2 2.5 2 2 229 OR, B

Ralp is a 4.5 star goalie!!!! too bad he is a defender but may not be bad to train as goalie i guess.

for my team, only one player was a buster.

His EQ for goalie is JUST over 80% which warrants 4*.

Hi Canuck I figured it would be good to chat here about this

Canuck wrote : I agree... there should NOT be a full round of star players. But, there should be 2 or 3 players who can crack the roster at some point in I.1. Our league had no such players.

I replied :

I think your being hindered by success. With a fully developed seasoned team built from within and on the market the bar for making a I.1 team is set at a certain OR level per age, then C/L and finally Q. So most teams your level are looking for 400+ OR , 6/6 with 80+Q per position to even be able to ride the bench for a few years before being sold. Your league will have about 1300 players from the SA and draft this season. I doubt that there would be 50 players who would meet this level each season. Right now there are 11 players being scouted to either be dropped, sold or developed. 15% I would think would be a bit high for I.1 teams each week and I am guessing that number will increase a few more players before the end of the day.

The other factors riding against this is the lack of player types for hockey. You have 4 player types G,D,C,W so this adds to the lack of upward mobility for the SA and drafted players.

The lower based teams will sell off any 90% players with their lower OR or not bother with them either.

I think in hockey this draft will help the teams with SA12 to SA15 who are at the bottom of I.1 and top of II.2 but it will take time for that to come to fruit.

Where the draft will come into its own is the other sports where there are many positions on the team and holes each team needs to fill. If we had more options for F and D in hockey then I am sure the draft would carry a little more weight that it was hyped but I think for the best teams its going to be business as usual where they get 1 to 3 players a year worth keeping and the rest will be market or RFA.

I think it will have little to no impact on hockey, some impact in football and will impact handball but the next sport from the ground up it will have major impact. Which I think is where it should be with the age of each game engine.

I know what you're saying. But even a player with 75Q+ in all the required attributes would suffice. Just something that has any hope. If you put all that time into the draft... scouting, sorting, drafting... only to get nada regardless of your standings? That seems a bit frustrating does it not?

Tuttle posted in his status they're going to address the player potential issue and ensure that players that are "A" players aren't just simply 75 AQ and up but rather have the Qs necessary for that position.

That is good. but would it not be wiser to have those players as the hidden jems

I think considering the time and effort a manager has to put into draft plus the fact there is money involved (to scout missed days and allow to sort manually) the draft was a BUST

I expected to have less randomness because it is .. a draft!!!

If the way it was presented would not sell me pro pack now it definitely does not. and i thought draft could be the way to go for PPM to get subscribers!

there are 16 weeks of pulls. draft represents 25% of the pulls for the season.
If half managers subscribe Or show online then they will likely get the 50% best players. That would represent 12.5% of the pulls

If we are talking about some 10% chance to get a real B quality player "4 star" and 5% of an "A" in a season, then those should be in the draft.

For my pulls it was good i think, but listening to what others got (even on B) it was bad overall.

I think it will be worth for handball but for soccer/hockey i unlikely will waste my time (and money) on it

I hate the hidden gem idea. Rather than have some A+ players buried as Cs and Ds why not make them B players. Guys who flew under the radar during their non-pro careers but burst into the league unexpectedly. You're not going to find a Sidney Crosby in the 8th round of the NHL draft... at least not every draft like are for gems in PPM.

I can understand them not wanting to flood us with good players, but at the same time, if the draft is going to take more time and effort than a regular pull, I'm going to expect a better result than a regular pull. For me, that means when I scout 35 of the 99 players available, at least one needs to be a 4 star equivalent player or better. Without that, the draft will only be useful for the first 3 or so seasons of a new sport.

My first round pick, Dylon Wheeler. He was an A grade winger.

Off: 70 (99)
Sho: 55 (92)
Tec: 55 (87)
Agr: 36 (58)

So he ended up being a pretty good pick. His aggressiveness is lowing than I'd like, but I can't complain too much. He'll be nice to have now that I am finally starting to train my own prospects.

EDIT: this is scouted, by the way.

Put me in the "not even bothering to sign the draft picks" category.

My sports academy upgraded today that's why i waited to pull. Out of 4 B players i selected i got the following: 1x 3.5* goalie, 2x 3* and 1x 2.5*. Pulled two players, both goalies, unscouted they have 72 and 73 EQ.

So I drafted 3 B players. The game tells me they were all B centers, but they weren't when I drafted them. Why would I take 3 centers? Somehow 1-2 of them changed after I drafted them but before they came to the academy. Anyway, they all ranged from 2.5-3.5 stars as centers. I brought in the 3.5 star guy and his scouted Qs are as follows: Off 74, Sho 70, Pas 80, Tec 79. He's actually passable.

Can't win a home game in handball "mini" playoffs. Unbelivable

Up 0-1 with 27 seconds left in the NT game and i give up a tying goal. And the other team didn't even pull the goalie. And i lose in shootout to a 21 year old 1250 OR goalie.
