You guys need to stop with the Laviolette talk.

Crawford was Bergevin's guy and he's the guy that will replace Michel Therrien

Exactly. Are any other team's fans coveting this guy like Habs fans do? No.

I seriously hope not. The guy is one of the most experienced coaches out there but he's been out the game a while now... Mind you, Dallas should have kept him, they missed the playoffs but he brought Dallas to a 95 point season...The West was crazy.

Still, not in my top 5.

I always thought that NHL coaches coaching elsewhere put provisions in their contracts that they can seek NHL employment throughout the term.

Any other francophones coaches available out there? If not then were stuck with Therrien the rest of the year

and to top it all off, he becomes head coach of a team who cant make the playoffs

I would say if you poll the Habs fans base.75-80% would say fire the coach....
Maybe will see a press release of a Therrien 3 year extension soon

From the wording of an article out of Zurich back in December, it doesn't sound like he does. His contract is up, and the article talked about the possibility of building an out clause into an extension (kind of implying there isn't one currently in his contract, which expires this season).

edit: found it. (link)

I don't think 100% of them have had one built in (I'm sure some have signed for only one year, after all), but I'm struggling to dig up specifics right now.

Clement Jodoin with Gallant could finish out the year...If Therrien gets canned.

Boucher tryin to polish up his resume for next year, been outta hockey a while.
He is going to a team with no playoff hope...So seems like what he is trying to do .

We should have hired Roy when we had the chance.

What makes you think Patrick Roy would have had success as head coach for the Habs? And don't point to his success with the Avalanche - Colorado ain't Montreal.

He's my old buddy, but he can barely speak English either! Great coach though.

This really kills my desire for the #FireTherrien campaign..

Might as well ride out the top 10 pick instead of hiring another dud that will have to get the 2 year lee-way of ineptitude.

Guy Boucher is off to Bern in Swiss League. Two seasons beyond this one. No confirmation but belief is he has "out clause" for NHL offer.

It would have been shocking had there been no such clause.

Don't all "high profile" head coaches going overseas tack on their contract these clauses anyway ? Can't see how I wouldn't make sure there was.

Yeah

I think Hartley did the same thing before being hired by the Flames

What makes you think a coach that failed on a team with two generational talent players would have success with Montreal?

Roy was GM and COACH in QUEBEC and had success, not a noob like Bergevin.

Read your first line and thought you were talking about Therrien with the penguins, he couldn't even win it with Crosby & Malkin why did we ever think he'd do it in Montreal..

This guy was trapping like crazy with Lecavalier, Stamkos and St Louis in the roster. Do you really want to see that in Montreal with our roster?

Again.. he had a 40 000 year old Roloson in net and Brett CLARK was his best defenseman. They were BLEEDING goals.

No. It was a three year deal.
