Still leading the team in points with 44, which would also make him the leader on the Habs as well. Currently, the leader is Subban with 36.

Not bad for a 41-year old, huh?

The sad part is, that's a lot better on paper than what they're throwing out there now

LOL!

True.

Sacrificing a 24yo centerman with good offensive upside VS a coach who's lost the room. Hmmmm,...

Would it make it palatable for you if, say, Bourque was one of the pieces going the other way ?

Or is Bourque too big a guy to move ?

Because other teams are lining up to take on our cap dumps?

Briere + Bourque + Diaz?

I'd hate to do it because I think Diaz is the best player in the trade, but MT clearly doesn't like Diaz anymore, so why not.

Of course it would, but I doubt Colorado trades a more productive player for a less productive for a 700k savings. There is no reason for Colorado to make a move like that.

Unless some deadwood is going out, there is no reason to get another player similar to ones the team already has. I doubt teams are lining up for deadwood.

Of course, we could have just signed him as a UFA when we had the chance...

Lavoie is really pushing this on Twitter... He's as credible as anyone and has broken news of signings / trades in the past.

Interesting indeed Renaud.
Already stated that Roy is resting him since he's coming back from injury.

Though, could just be a cover so nothing gets out.

Should get Bordeleau, too. Guy has 6 points, 4 goals.

Losing gorges will cost us a bit defensively, but the trade would make us better.
You can bring the youth up by putting Bouillon/Murray on waivers or burying them in the minors. Why move a stable Dman when you can easily make room for the kids by getting rid of the 2 black holes who won't be here next year? Just so they can get a non-impact forward? Unless Gorges is getting Evander Kane straight up, then a move for a guy like PAP or similar is pointless.

That is what my scouts on NHL 09 tell me, yes.

I wonder if they're interested in expiring contracts to free up space to re-sign O'Reilly or controllable players.

What do you mean? Parenteau is actually pretty good and on a reasonable contract.

Only if Gionta or Briere is going the other way, we don't have room for another smurf.

The move isnt trading gorges to make room for the youth. It's trading gorges (who needs to go, he's run his course here), replacing him with NHL ready youth who can actually help (who bring more talent than him; we have to get these guys experience now), and picking up a vet RW who can replace Gionta.

Our Dcore has too much $$$ sunk into it, and while Gorges isn't bad, he's more valuable on other teams. We're not going to win anything with Gorges on our top pairing. I'm not suggesting we'll tank but Replacing Gorges with NB in the top4 isn't that bad an option, especially long term.

The guy is 6' tall...

You want another "smurf" like Bourque ? He is certainly playing like one.
