The UFA market for goalies looks a bit weak to me. And Holland looks like he's shopping for a netminder. HOw about trying for someone like a Noronen or Toskala?? And pairing them up with Legace? If the youngster works out, great. If not Legace's a decent fall back plan.
After Columbus signed Prusek, some people have speculated that Leclaire may take Denis' job as starter, so he could be available. I'm not sure how valid this rumor is, though.
As a Jackets fan, I can tell you that Leclaire hasn't even proven himself at the AHL level yet, let alone shown he can displace Denis. If Leclaire does well in Syracuse this season, he will have a solid chance of backing up Denis next season.
Edit: Leclaire was going to be the primary starter at Syracuse last season, but 14 games into the schedule he suffered an abdominal injury that kept him out for the rest of the season. That is the primary reason why he's slated for the AHL, and not backup duty in Columbus, this coming season.

The bummer of the Wings goalie situation is we only need a short term solution. This is why Osgood could probably work.
For now, we need an established starter to carry the load. Legace is a solid backup, but he's been shaky when he's had to play several games in a row.
But looking to the future, we have two goalies that could turn out to be of the franchise variety. MacDonald was a rock for Grand Rapids last year. He almost got a team that couldn't score to save their lives into the playoffs with his will and determination. Then there's Howard. Jimy Howard virtually re-wrote the NCAA record books his sophomore year, and backed it up with a solid junior campaign.
So the future looks pretty bright, it's just the immediate hole that needs filling. Bullin @ 32 years old would have been ideal, as he went over the hill one of the kids could have taken over. But since he was way out of our price range I think we're going to have to settle for Osgood or a similar so-so veteran.
I think they can pick up Osgood, Dunham or Burke for a decent price in free agency. I don't know about most of you but I'm comfortable going into the season with Manny as the #1. I can remember just last season when Joseph was struggling and people called for Legace to start. Now that he's the top guy in town, the support has gone down...why is that?
