Clean and simple, I like it that way rather than cool flames with cool colors and other cool stuff.

Miller's mask looks like someone's horrible tattoo. I can't believe he's going to wear that thing during Olympic play.

At least Quick's looks respectable.

It's just the "upgrade" of his mask from last Olympics..

I don't like it, it's like from seventies but if you like it ok your opinion. In my opinion, best are:

1. Jonas Hiller
2. Jaro Halak
3. Kari Lehtonen / Geneviève Lacasse

On the other side worst is Starkbaum and Miller.

One of the best looking masks ever imo. I kinda like Kovar's mask as well but having czech coat of arms on mask isn't anything new and original

Quick's regular mask for comparison...

Love that he simply added red, white, and blue highlights. Looks classy.

Hiller's mask is by a very wide margin the best, and I say that despite not being a much a fan of how that woman (not sure who she is) is drawn.

Facetious?
The Olympics has been clear about not allowing this sort of propaganda. Miller just seems to not understand that.

Still not sure if you're being facetious or not, though I guess I'll assume you are.

Uncle Sam is a completely generic national icon which personifies the government. Use in a propaganda poster would be expected of such icons just as flags would be. Uncle Sam, as lame as it is imo, is no different than the flag or any other national emblem or image that all these masks have. I don't see it being comparable to the things which we already know to have been disallowed.

I don't remember hearing about a flag telling anyone to join the army. You can't disallow a flag. Uncle Sam is not part of a flag.

And that poster is what Uncle Sam is known for.

You also said he's an icon that personifies the American government, which makes it not allowed.

I know you can't disallow a flag, but they also aren't disallowing other national emblems and Uncle Sam is no different than other national emblems. His appearance on a propaganda poster is no different than a flag's appearance on a propaganda poster. It doesn't define the emblem. Uncle Sam also appears in car commercials and parade floats because he is is just a stupid personification of the US federal government and, by extension, the USA. It doesn't express a political idea any more than a flag does, because both simply represent the nation.

I don't like Miller's mask, but there's nothing inconsistent about Uncle Sam (and a bald eagle, mind you -- the same thing really) being allowed while "support our troops" was disallowed. Miller had a very similar mask in 2010 as well, with a slightly less buff version of Uncle Sam in the same place.

Edit for your edit: Where do you draw the conclusion that personifications of the government are not allowed from? I've seen nothing of the sort in word or action.

I was basing that off of what they've disallowed. I didn't know he used that in 2010, so to me, all that shows is that the IOC is inconsistent.

He used Uncle Sam in 2010. Have the rules changed since then?

Right, that one I was aware of, as well as "Support Our Troops". I don't see them as being highly similar to iconography like Uncle Sam, and neither does the IoC apparently. Despite what connotations people may attach to Uncle Sam, he's ultimately just a generic American mascot whereas these examples are (political) speech.

Miller's mask is extremely corny, though. I imagine it's cheekily so, because sporting a muscle-bound Uncle Sam in earnest is kinda sad.
