First game back: start on the fourth line and earn his way up
Second game back: used normally
Third game back: playing third line minues
Fourth game back: healthy scratch because he has to rest
Fifth game back: healthy scratch because Roy won't change a team that did so well (winning being outshot 21-44)

I don't think that's the way to treat a veteran and one of your more skilled forwards. Roy would never treat Tanguay like that.

Agree re bords, just terrible.
Pap we really do not know the inside story... May not be as 100% as advertised! may be traded with some lingering reason to not finalize etc
But
On to our game... Seems we have been playing tired guys and showing one good period recently. Hope we come out rested and push hard/smart. A win really helps... Every win before O break makes the last month easier as playoffs approach. No reason we cannot continue to improve.

Are the teams able to train, or is O break a mandatory holiday?

I think it is lockout rules, but I could be wrong. I think they team can meet on their own at a different facility but the coaches cannot organize practice. That would make sense to me, at least.

MacKinnon said in an interview that he will spend the first week at home and the second in Denver practicing

I still don't understand these PAP is upset rumors. I thought he could have been traded anyway, but these rumors about friction just sound like speculation that's grown legs based on him being a scratch.

I mean, he would have had to just freaked out immediately upon being told he was gonna sit the first game, and demanded a trade right on the spot because the rumors were instantaneous. I don't know why he would be so upset immediately anyway. He'd at least try to work through things with Patrick, unless they've been feuding all season which seems doubtful given how hunky dory everything is with the team.

I am buying the trade rumors, not the friction rumors.

Haha vision and decision making are 2 pretty big qualities to be missing. Boredeleau could be a better player if he had better "decision making".

As for the Olympics, I think youre right. The players can get together and practice, it just can be run/organized by coaches.

I was thinking rehab trainers type work more than practice... Seems like the avs are in need of a break

Have to respect the honesty of Roy when talking about personnel choices. Parenteau is out tonight because team is playing well regardless

Ryan Boulding ‏@rboulding 3m
You can tell it is a tough decision given Parenteau's skill

Ryan Boulding ‏@rboulding 2m
I suggest that you watch the presser for an anecdote from Roy's days in Montreal and the importance of hard work and attitude

Do the Olympians all return home at the same time or of they return home as they are eliminated?

I'm 99% sure they stay. The charters seem to be booked for the end, and I would they they would stay to participate in the closing ceremonies as well.

PAP > Mitchell, mistake of Roy's to leave Mitchell in over PAP. Especially since we just laid an egg last game and barely won.

By scratching him you mess up the relationship and there isn't really any way back and you have to trade him. Scratch Cliche/Bordeleau/McLeod instead. They all deserve it more.

If a trade isn't imminent, I'm not happy about how this is going down.
I agree I'm not a fan of coaches using these tactics and then having them obsessed over by the media. Need to get PAP back in and playing soon.

I found that funny, Roy is clearly not honest, Varly saved our ass vs Dallas, the team wasn't playing well without PAP.

No, something is still in motion regarding him.

He means the entire time without PA, they are something like 9-1-1.

^ This article explains the Olympic break.

I'm not a fan of scratching PAP. Even if he isn't playing his best hockey he still should be in instead of Bordeleau.

Agreed. I think our bottom-6 still needs some work; McLeod and Bordy are a bit redundant with their roles/skillsets (or lack thereof), while Mitchell just doesn't really fit anywhere with the way he wants to command the puck. Cliche is alright, but I'd still prefer to see Malone there.

To be fair listen to the presser. Roy did share a good anecdote and explained that because PAP doesn't PK and McGinn is playing so well that he didn't feel it was fair to the rest of the team to put PAP in the lineup. Because Mitchell and Talbot PK, they get in on the 3rd line over PAP. Basically said that PAP has to continue to work hard and he will get his spot in the lineup back.

Now reading between the lines, Roy doesn't see him as a fit in the top 6 right now, and doesn't like him on the bottom 6 because he doesn't play on the PK, so he will sit or be deemed expendable in a trade.

Last game PAP played he was awful both defensively and offensively. And maybe he is scratched not just for that but he's being traded?

I don't know what Bordeleau's role is anymore, not to hit or fight anyone ever, and skate around with arms out as wide as he can skating in circles around the blue line area.

Both McLeod and Bordeleau are pretty useless

Clearly Bordeleau's role on the team is to raise the team's shooting %
