Khaira can play in AHL or go back to Everett for overage season.

Yes he is. I would like to see him spend another year in the WHL. His defensive is game is really good but his offensive game he is very streaky. I would like to see him develop his offensive game further in the WHL. Although if he does play exceptionally well in OKC I see no reason why he should not be on OKC. I prefer him though to go back to the WHL.

We own an ECHL franchise and should be developing players like Khaira and Yakimov there instead of WHL or KHL.

Reports out of Everett that Jujhar Khaira will be heading to the #OKCBarons. #oilers

Would like khaira to go back to WHL for sure. Didn't put up great numbers. Really hard to learn that in AHL

That is a good point actually. Did really well for the development of Mark Arcobello. I would not be against either starting in the ECHL.

Now we can finally assess him properly. I think Khaira was a odd fit on the Silvertips, I didn't feel like they utilized his skillset or size effectively.

Near the end of the year they started utilizing him, mainly on the PP, but even at even strength they finally put him on the top line with Winquist and Nikolishin. His numbers were up around PPG down the stretch.

So Khaira, Chase and Winquist are out there, wouldnt be surprised if there is one more significant player added to OKC out of the WHL

Don't know why you'd do that. Why wouldn't you let them develop more before their ELCs start? Look at a guy like Gustav Nyquist. They let him play at University of Maine even after a 61 point season so that he continues to develop. He still didn't have to clear waivers at 24, and now they can call up a guy who can neatly fit into their top line and put up a point per game.
Now look at Martin Frk. There's a guy that Detroit should have been send back for his over-age year.
It would be nice if we could send Pitlick back to OKC next year without having to pass him through waivers.

Unless Khaira is a showstopper for the rest of OKC's season, then I think he'd be better off in the WHL next year. He won't be playing for the Oilers either way, so he might as well work on his offense so when he DOES make the jump to the Oilers in a couple years or so, he'll have more to offer than 4th line skills.

I'd bet the oilers promised him a spot in the ahl after a year to get him to go to the WHL

Is anyone else worried Nurse wasn't nominated as one of the top D in the OHL? This after he was left off Team Canada?

Given the verbal from Kyle Dubas, it is a little strange. Oh well. The fact of the matter is that he's had a good season, which is what we were hoping for. One good thing about it is that it gives 2 concrete goals for next season, making the WJ team and winning Defenseman of the Year.

No I stopped worrying about what these guys think about prospects. Accolades are great but playing in the NHL is better.

He attended OKC camp, then signed with the Bakersfield

He'll probably attend OKC camp again next year

I'm sure the Oilers are keeping an eye on him though

The top D award nominations are a joke this year. Pelech and McKeown have no business being up for it, and nor should Zadorov for that matter considering he only played half the season.

A little

But here are the Past CHL top D (couldn't easily find past OHL D of the year)

David Savard
Jonathan Blum
Kris Russell
Danny Syvret
Ryan Ellis

Pietrangelo never won it, so not overly worried. I care more about progression and NHL play. So well see this training camp

Chase with a nice AHL debut. Goal and +2. I really get the vibe this guy is going to be our Andrew Shaw.
