Also you're missing two of the team's 3 best pitchers.
Yeah, I was about to ask where Adam Eaton and Robert Person were

Yeah, it's best Phillies pitchers not best pitchers to ever pitch in a Phillies uniform. If it were you would have to throw Pedro Martínez in the conversation.

Halladay was what, one of the top 5 most talented pitchers in Phils history?
Most talented. That's different than "who had the best Phillies career". I think you guys are talking about different things. I don't know if Halladay was one of the five most talented; lots of players don't live up to their talent and Halladay did. But he was one of the greatest in terms of career accomplishments, and his peak with the Phillies has to be up there with the all-time Phils greats. In terms of "greatest Phillies career" you'd have to have him lower, because he was only great for a short period.

Any idea if Ruiz will do the catching today?

You'd think the Phillies would want to keep his bat in the lineup before an off day, no?

Day game after night game is almost auto backup goalie catcher in baseball, off games afterwards or not. Nieves is catching today.

Yup, a healthy Hamels gives the Phillies a real good rotation. If only the bullpen didn't blow. Seriously the team could easily have like three more wins with just an average bullpen.

I still am baffled how BJ Rosenberg keeps getting chances for, what, the third straight year of being awful?

I went to the Sunday game against the Marlins a few weeks back and as soon as I saw he was coming in I turned to my brother and said there goes the game (it was a tie game at the time). He proceeded to have a one-two-three inning with two SOs. A few days later he had the historical 3 HR game.

I guess I just lucked out.

He is garbage. In fact, they don't really have any arms in the BP that I feel like I can really depend on. Remember that anomaly that 2008 was? Front to back, the bullpen was SOLID. Even the crappy relievers weren't as bad as our "good" relievers are this year.

Guys like JC Romero, Scott Eyre, Ryan Madson, Chad Durbin, of course Lidge, hell, even Clay Condrey wasn't this bad.

Yeah, it's ****ing crazy.

I still can't believe they don't have any prospects that can step up. The Phillies must have one of the worst group of scouts in the league. I know they traded a lot of talent away but come on, they don't have anything in terms of bullpen help down there?

Edit: I know it's over two months away but it would be really cool to see Chase in another All-Star game. What are the odds he can hold up for another two months though? As of right now he seems like a shoe in.

Bastardo is OK. Papelbon is looking better. The rest of the BP is garbage.

Jake Diekman has great "stuff". He needs to improve his command and his mental game before he can succeed in the MLB.

I'm not impressed at all with Bastardo, and I never really have been to be honest. Papelbon is paid too much to just be looking better.

I never understood the Papelbon acquisition. How can you defend buying an elite closer when your team will not be in a position to close out games in the first place (i.e. not having a lead to defend in the first place)? Amaro should have bolstered the lineup and gotten a cheaper option to close out games. Hopefully the next GM will have a more rational approach to constructing the Phillies.

You never pay top dollar for back end bullpen. Nobody does.

Papelbon got an outrageous contract. I don't blame him for signing.

I don't blame anyone for signing a good contract, but I just really don't like the guy. After all the crap he's said (and I do value player honesty in interviews) and his lack of production in situations lately, he's about as unlikable as it gets. He's a villain.
