I agree with that. But if Vinny refuses to waive, then he helps the Flyers the most as a #2C with Couts replacing him in 2 years in that spot. So where does that leave Schenn? as our LW that we need.

But is we could trade Schenn x 2 for Josi + another forward, then that is a deal they should be doing.

Also have to think Montreal would come asking for him as well. A lot of things have changed since he came here. He isn't playing the second line center he thought he was and the coach that made him want to be here was fired three games in. Shoot even the GM that signed him could be gone at seasons end.

I am not saying it's likely, just thinking there could be a possibility.

Maybe a Chris Stewart for Vinny deal?

We would definitely be a lot tougher on the wings with him, Simmonds, & Hartnell. IIRC he's got some good wheels for a big guy. He plays the right side despite being a righty so hopefully he would be able to transition to the left side.

Flyers will land Edler soon as there is lots of talks with Van right now. Doesn't mean it will happen but lot's of talks between the two GM's.

Looks like he's only missed a few games in the last three seasons, so he's pretty healthy. But do St Louis need a 2C with Vinny's offensive skills and defensive issues?

St Louis needs a first line center or second line center. That's why they were heavy for him in the off season.

Nothing is forsure but Flyers want Edler. I got two friends that work for the Canucks and they get some good info. They knew Diaz would be a Canuck but it doesn't mean every trade goes down. I'll try to find out more from them to see what player or players are being talked about from our end.

Meh on Stewart, although if they move a C for a W, it'll smooth out the 2nd line. Maybe creating more fluidity.

Hmm it seems like your genuine but it's hard to take rumors seriously when not linked with a big name source.

I don't know how much I would pay for Edler, but I wouldn't move our first rounder this year or next year for him.....

Grossmann+Laughton+9th rounder!

Interesting, hope it doesn't cost a ton.

I'm just giving info on what I'm told. Rumors are just that rumors. Hell of a California swing for the boys and a Dman like Edler wouldn't hurt going forward. Edler hates Torts and it's messing up his game.

Based on Torts comments, they want scoring forward(s) and now. Problem is anybody out of the Top 9 forward would probably not be tradeable (Vinny/Hartnell) or not help in the future (Schenn/Couturier)

Edler when he is on can hit, move the puck and can compete with the best of them. He needs a change.

We could probably afford to trade Lecavalier and/or Downie if Vancouver is interested

Maybe Homer can convice Van that Meszaros is like Brent Burns and trade Meszaros for Edler. That would be so rad and so never happening.

He needs to stop the decline he's been on for a couple of years now.

Edler's been a name that's come up over the years with the Flyers. I'm sure they've at least made a call since Vancouver has made just about everyone available. I imagine the price would be pretty high, and we would have to send a defenseman back to make room. Maybe something like Schenn + Mez for Edler.

Unless they're buying low on Edler I would be very skeptical about acquiring him.

I could definitely see us moving Schenn for him & having that one blow up in our faces down the road.

Honestly I would offer Lecavalier and Grossmann for Edler. We don't need to be trading any of our young core, we need to keep them together

I don't think the numbers would work cap wise & plus Vancouver could do better than that & I'm not even an Edler fan.

We already sold low on an inconsistent young player a few years ago & that hasn't been exactly working out great for us. The best I would offer for Edler is Laughton & a 2nd or 3rd.
