If we didn't give anything significant besides a 1st for Bouwmeester, a better player than Callahan, a player who wasn't a rental, and someone who actually filled a hole, a massive hole, then we definitely aren't going to give a top prospect or Stewart+1st for Callahan. That's just simple logic.

They'd miss it.

After all, Stewart is bad therefore Dreger made up his report and Callahan in a bad year as a pure rental fetches our top prospect and a first, and if we don't like it we're arrogantly insulting the brilliant hockey knowledge of I guess the Ranger fan C-team.

I'd rather have Ladd than Callahan if given the opportunity.

The problem is Callahan is a UFA next year hence why some Blues fans may feel a first with Stewart is over payment.

I tend to agree a bit. Maybe a second and another late rounder instead of a first.

Lets keep it short: Every single piece of logic from the Blues stand point says trading Stewart and Jaskin for a rental is a stupid stupid move, and that's all Callahan is, a rental. I'd really like Callahan, and I think him for Stewart, our second, and a solid prospect is a solid deal. If you can do better then that, or if that's not good enough, from what I know of my team as a Blues fan, then nothing will come of this.

Stewart demolishes the East, he's darn near a PPG player versus Eastern teams. I know moving him to a team in the East doesn't makes him an automatic PPG player, but he would fare MUCH better in an open system that plays a little looser on D.

If I was Army, I would be asking for something with Callahan and not the other way around. He's not worth anywhere close to the reports about salary demands. Unless the Leafs buy out Clarkson and then gives him that money, I just don't see it.

If Rangers fans think Army will be the one adding, your flat out dreaming. Plus, this is Sather we're talking about, he might offer up the Rangers 1st, then sign Stewart to a 7yr/49 million dollar contract after a patented Stewart hot streak.

Developing story, NYR grant permission to at least 1 team who has already talked with Callahan's agent. More on Sportscentre. #TSN

Well things might actually get interesting here, instead of the twitter mess that was Miller.

Obviously if a team can sign Callahan to a long term extension his value increases significantly. If he's gonna be traded this move helps the Rangers quite a bit.

I like how every blues fans never feel like paying a bit to put their team over the top

Halak + 1st for miller??? No way Miller is worth that!! (even if the guy is one of the best goaltender this year playing behind buffalo)

Callahan for Stewart and a 1st??? No!!! its a rental!!

come on.. you gotta pay to get over the top.. and if the blues somehow manage to get one of (or both) of these guys they become 5x scarier and cup favorites

If it gets Callahan brought in for 3-4 years at 4.5 to 5, I would be willing to add Rattie... Jaskin though... I really don't want to move him.

I'd say Jaskin and Allen are just about untouchable reguardless. Rattie... could be moved under the right circumstances.

Miller is a goalie that plays much better with more shots. It was proven that Halak actually has better stats when the goalies face about 20-25 shots, which is what would happen if Miller came to St. Louis. Also Halak is 7-1-1 in his past 9 games and has been looking solid. Elliott has been playing well too. The goaltending situation isn't as bad as some fans like to think it is.

And lets not pretend the 1st round pick is a huge value. It will be somewhere at the #26 spot or so, in a weak draft.

That's where you're mistaken. The Blues don't have to pay anything. They don't have to buy anything either. Therefore, the Blues only have to pay what they're willing to pay for what they want to buy.

First round picks always have value. The notion that one draft is weak is silly until a few years after development. 2007 was called a weak draft and the Blues got Perron at 26.

If we're using a first in a trade it isn't to tweak our winger situation. Ask any Blues fan, center or goal is the area where that might happen.

Honestly, losing one of their "top prospects" up front doesn't seem like a big deal to STL, caps going up and they have Roy + Morrow expiring for another $5M in space and a team like theirs is more likely to want a veteran bottom 6 piece than working in a rookie.

Blues up front are just silly stacked, this is an upgrade they can definitely afford.

In the real world dollars matter. Smart business matters. We aren't in a desperate need of your resources, we will not overpay ^^^^^^like that. Quit acting like Blues fans need to get a grip on the situation. You're the one who clearly doesn't understand the situation.

Do the names Oshie, Berglund, or Perron ring a bell? Were those strong drafts?
