Duchene is primed to explode the goal column down the stretch. I think him, ROR and MacK will all end right around 30 goals for the year. That'd be stellar if we had 3 30+ goal scorers in one season. I wonder how often that feat has been accomplished in the modern era.
Almost 5 players with 20 goal, hellz yeah! I recall reading an article about Canucks on top of their recent glory and boasting 5 20-goal scorers (iirc Sedins,Kesler,Burrows and whoever was the fifth) on their team back then was listed as one of the reasons to their success.
Anyway, slightly unrelated, we are going to have 5 50point players very soon, just 4 more points to SoS and RoR and one for Mac. Could happen as soon as in 2-3 games. I guess this is pretty good, or not?
EDIT: So i checked myself to satisfy the curiosity and i can happily report its indeed quite a feat, even though obviously we do not have a single player with 60 points or more, whereas for example Anaheim have both Getzlaf and Perry, Pittsburgh have Crosby and Malkin, etc... Still the only team to be better at this particular "exercise" currently than us are Chicago, who already have 4 50pointers and one player with 48points. We come closest to them, then Ottawa surprisingly to me and obviously Saint Louis, Pittsburgh and Boston are not that far off either. Oh, and NYI...
Bottom line, this is mostly a good company. I like especially that we are sort of emulating Chicago, if there was one team i liked for its players/composition during the Avs suck-years, it was them. I guess its nothing special and i was surely not the only one, but the moment they got Hossa back in 2009, i knew they were going to win it all with him, Toews, Kane and Sharp in the line-up, it was simply given. If only we could emulate that with our forward group as well.
I would love to get 7, 20 goal scorers. Anyone know what the record is?
Nothing better than having your scoring spread out like that.
I think Boston one year had around ten 20 goal scorers.
Edit: found it, close to the end of the section: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_...Big_Bad_Bruins. Boston had eleven 20 goal scorers one year, which is the current record for most 20 goal scorers on a single NHL team. Another year they had 7 of the top 10 scorers in the league. Yikes.
