Sounds like they are going with the best defense is a strong offense theory. It could be a very fun team to watch if they stay healthy and get clicking on all cylinders.

Dunno to much about the penguins ... but wouldn't it be something closer to this ..... I'm proabably waaaay off though hah. but play Malkin n Crosby together with Recchi on the line to teach? Then Let the two big guns handle the pressure ....
Well, Holzinger last played for Columbus, and Tommy K signed with the Kings before the lokout and the re-signed with them a few days ago.

More like:

Lemieux - Crosby - Ziggy
Morozov - Malkin - Recchi
Koltsov - Malone - Kraft
Surovy/Lasse P/Ryan V - Beech - Roy

Even better. Play CuJo full time, and hopefully he can regain his form back from the Oilers/LEafs days. Then this would be a team to watch out for. Having MAF in their lineup wont make much of a difference anyways, even if say they do make the cup finals, when was the last time a sophomore goalie took their team to the cup? Or is MAF still considered a rookie?

So many offensive players but not one single checking center or even winger. Who the heck is gonna kill thier penalties? Kraft? Fata? lol they better get a solid checking center for the 4th line.

Unless they still have Eastwood?

Palffy can play on the PK. He's a very good two-way player, with a +85 in his five seasons in Los Angeles. Palfy averaged 1:50 in PK time/game in 2001-02, 1:42/game in 2002-03, and and 2:34/game in 2003-04.

*queues David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust*

And there's still two months to make improvements to teamwide defense.

Morozov Back To Russia ?

Do you think Pittsburgh signed Palffy (a RW) to a 3 year contract since maybe they have been told Morozov (a RW), or his agent, that Morozov is going back to Russia to play for next season (or maybe a few seasons) ?

Oh god, i hope not, i have both of them as RW's in my keeper draft !!!

The Penguins are convinced that this is the type of hockey that should be played in the NHL, and i'm sure the NHL is happy that an entertaining team is being put together for their newest young star. However, that all means diddly in the postseason, which i think this team will reach but get slaughtered in.

You don't think Marc-Andre Fleury is a goaltender ...he was great for them when they were horrible.

Craig Patrick was looking under his couch for the remote, but instead he found $20 million. He didn't ask questions.

I don't think so. Del Biaggio currently holds a stake in another team (San Jose's Cleveland Barons). Del Biaggio pumping money into the Penguins at this point would probably suggest a conflict of interest. He'll have to sell his stake with the Barons first.

The bottom line is some people seem to think the Pens filed for bankruptcy yesterday.

You are right. As a pens fan for many years, I disrespected palffy when he came into the league imitating Jagr, but now he is legit, its exciting for pittsburgh

That I remember Brodeur in '95, and he didn't do too bad in '94 losing to the Rangers in the conference Finals game 7 double OT as a Rookie.

He's also proven that his potential is unlimited.

He's also proven that even now, his skills are at an extremely high level...

I'm so tired of this, "Well,he hasn't proven anything crap..."

Obviously but how can he if nobody ever gives him the chance to...?

I understand where Kvasha is coming from, but if it takes Crosby longer than one shift in the league to prove he belongs, then I'll eat my jock strap.

In fact, I'd trade one of those 2 for any scorer the Pens have right now.
This guy tore up the RSL this season and is poised for a major breakout, IMO.

I really hope the Pens sign him asap.

I'd expect them to camp the pylon out in front of the net, and Mario, Ziggy and Crosby will take turns banking the puck off the pylon into the net. It is expected that this will be the first time that an inanimate object will lead the league in power play goals......

This comments wins over all.

RICO FATA. Yes, Rico Fata, he of the -1057. On the defensive line.

I know Mario likes offense, but this is ridiculous. This team is now comprised of a bunch of sissymarys, Orpik and Melichar. Philly, NJ, Boston, Tampa et al are going to beat the snot out of this team. Not to mention the fact that Palffy and and Lemieux will most likely combine to play 55 games.
