Sat., Feb. 1, 2014| Flyers 2 at Kings 0 (Timonen will not play at SJ; upd. post #1)

OFFICIAL THREE STARS:
  1. Mason
  2. Simmonds
  3. Stoll

Event summary (stats) -- http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...4/ES020827.HTM

GDT -- http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh....php?t=1594753

--------------------------------
Monday, Feb. 3:
Will not play. Day-to-day, questionable for the next game.

Sunday, Feb. 2:

Quote:
Kimmo Timonen did not play due to a foot injury (listed as day-to-day)

Quote:
SAN JOSE -- It takes a considerable amount of pain to keep someone such as Kimmo Timonen out of the lineup.

The Flyers' defenseman, who had an “Iron Man” streak going a while ago, missed his first game of the season Saturday in Los Angeles with an aching left foot.

He was hit by a puck while blocking a shot against Detroit on Jan. 28.

“He needs rest,” said Flyers coach Craig Berube. “No sense even putting him out for practice.”

Timonen is questionable for Monday’s game against the Sharks but as Berube said, “You never know. He might show up and say, I wanna play.”

Timonen did some off-ice work today at SAP Arena. He is not in a cast or walking boot, which is a good sign because that says there is no fracture.
Quote:
Timonen said he plans to skate Monday morning and will make a decision then on whether to play.

---------------------------------

Saturday, Feb. 1:

Quote:
Just prior to the first period of today's Flyers-Kings game in Los Angeles Flyers GM Paul Holmgren announced that defenseman Kimmo Timonen will not be in the line-up due to a lower-body injury.

He is listed as day-to-day.

Today is the first game Timonen has missed all season, and prior to today, he was one of eight players to have appeared in all 55 games for the Flyers this season.

Timonen has 19 points (2g-17a) in 55 games to go along with a plus-minus rating of plus-1, while averaging over 20-minutes of ice-time (20:43).

Mason was amazing today. Gus + Schenn is a great combo for the Flyers right now. Giroux was huge as well. Big win.

I have to say it: Couts value is astronomical.

LA commentators considered Raffl the best player all game, called him the hardest working player on the ice who does everything and anything, and think the Flyers have a stud on their hands with him...

...

I would have never guessed that sentence would ever been typed.

He's starting to look normal again.

It helps that LA has gone back to being a horrible offensive team.

Gus with another 21+ minute game...

Couturier did a great job on Kopitar all night long.

Nice win... Toronto'd them thanks to Mason.

I concur. With such few threats on LA-- he's even stronger.

Mason, Giroux, Simmonds are the three stars and in that order probably. Giroux absolutely buried the second goal and made the play and pretty pass to make the first one possible. Simmonds was in position to bury the first and made a nice check to make the second possible.

Streit gets props for a good keep-in play on the second goal and Gustafsson gets props for being Gustafsson.

Raffl is one of those players we just have to find a spot for. He looks great as a center
