Eric Lindros

Well, since we're playing the tick-tock game with Ziggy Palffy, and say he moves elsewhere. Would anybody want the big "E"?

I wouldn't mind giving him a contract similar to the one Jason Allison got in Toronto. Incentive based. He also played wing for a better part of his last two season with the Rags. He's no longer in the picture at Broadway, so to me he wouldn't be a bad alternative. He's also still pretty young. Aside from being a jello-head, I think he would be a good gamble.

1 million dollar base salary

another 500k if he plays in 60 or more games.

Although I don't know how incentive based contracts are handled in the new CBA.

I would take a million dollar chance on the guy, no problem at all. If he retires in week 2, his contract is off the books anyway, so it's like we never even had him on the roster I believe.

Sign him for peanuts and it becomes a fairly low-risk situation.

I am not sure how they work either but sportsnet says Allison's contract has $3 million in bonuses. $2 million extra if he plays X number of games. He gets $1 million more if he scores Y number of points.

That would be fair for a player of Eric's calibre.

I'd do it, especially if the Kings use the extra money to sign a good #3-4 defenseman.

With Ziggy gone now.............................................

I'm fine with big "E". He needs a new scene. A one year deal wouldn't hurt.

Only problem with that is he has all but signed with the Leafs already. There really is no more talent to speak of on the FA market. It looks like we have our roster already.

I've read that to, on other sites and boards. But Toronto's hands are seriously tied right now. If that's the case they'll probably be looking to deal some players to make cap space. Bring us Nik Antro, and Wade Belak. Two big guys and Antro can play with Fro. Just a thought now that i've had a few drinks!

I think the Kings need to get a faster forward rather than Lindros. You have Roenick, Demitra and Frolov as your big 3, none are known for their speed but are good players. On the 2nd line the Kings are probably praying Cammy plays like he did last year but I would try to add another 2nd line winger, LW I guess with speed. That way you can mix and match the top 2 lines depending on the situation. That would push Luc down to the the 3rd line with Armstrong and somebody on RW, I'm assuming they want Dustin Brown here but I would rather see him on the 4th line with Avery and Cowan or Belanger if he makes the team. I wouldn't mind re-signing Klatt now that the front of the roster is much better than before the lockout. So right now if I'm the GM I look for a #2 LW, #3 RW and a backup goalie, then I think they will be done. I think DT has done an excellent job so far but there is more work to do.

Lindros isn't a terrible option but I'd like the Kings to concentrate on getting back-up goalie that has some NHL experience first.

i was just thinking the same thing....but i doubt the kings want to risk reliving their injury-plagued years

I am not sure that Lindros qualifies under the injured player scenario. Sure, he left last season with a concussion, but before that, he had played almost a complete year and a half. It may be possible that Lindros has to offered a full contract, rather than an incentivized contract, and I am not sure how insurance would handle that type of contract with Eric.
