Is he a player that we should be excited about? Do you think he has a future in the nhl?

I really like him. Great potential. Could turn out really well. NHL??? Sure, why not. Needs to continue his fine development though. His defensive game needs to improve the most. His offense will ROCK.

He´ll continue to play for Malmö Redhawks, this time in tier II. You´ll find online stats as usual from swehockey.

Other defenseman on that team are Andreas Lilja, Jonathan Coleman, Miska Kangasniemi, Johan Norgren, Johan Björk and Edvin Frylén.

According to Lars "Osten" Bergström: former coach of Öhlund
Compering Hersley to Mattias Öhlund: present coach of Hersley
Hersley is better than Öhlund was at his age.

Yes that's correct, he got back problems. This also made him miss a tournament with the U20 national team.

He is practising now, but the coach says he isn't ready to come back yet. This didn't stop him from playing for Malmö's U20 team today though and scoring the game-winning goal against the best U20 team in the country.

As for the rest of the season, I like what I've seen so far of him. He got a good shot and likes to use it and he also seem to know when to go on offense and when to stay back. He also hasn't been on the ice for any of the goals scored against the team. Might also add that he has maybe been a bit inconsistenct and his first part of the season was a bit better than the part before the injury, but I guess it's because he's still inexperienced at this level.

Looking forward to see him back in action soon.

Stats
2nd-tier league: 8 games, 2 goals, 1 assist, plus-8
U20 league: 3 games, 2 goals, plus-1

Thought I should add that he played in the game today with the big team, so he is back in action. Didn't watch the game though, so I don't know how he did.

Didn't see it myself, but Hersley apparently scored a great goal in the juniors last weekend. He took the puck from a player from the opposite team behind his own team's goal and then was able to skate all the way up to the opposite team's goal and score.

Stats
2nd-tier league: 12 games, 2 goals, 2 assists, plus-9
U20 league: 7 games, 5 goals, 2 assists, plus-4

How's he been doing? Is he playing against players his age or older players? Do you think he'll come to NA next season or does he play another in Sweden?

I've been writing some updates about him here: http://www.hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=175890

Hersley is playing vs older players in the league below the top league in Sweden, his first real season on the senior level.

He has been a bit inconsistent, which I guess is understandable. Some games he has been excellent both defensively and offensively and some other games the opposite. This has meant that his ice time has varied a lot and also played some game in the juniors (which he is too good for as you can see in the stats).

I don't think he is ready to make the move across the pond yet and would be surprised if he isn't playing in Sweden next season too.

Stats
2nd-tier league: 22 games, 3 goals, 5 assists, plus-15
U20 league: 9 games, 8 goals, 3 assists, plus-4

Malmö's coach praised Hersley after the game today vs arch rival Rögle:

"The individually best player was Patrik Hersley, a dominant on the ice. He got all the tools that it takes to become a really, really good defenseman. Tonight he did almost everything right and also played physically."

After struggling with injuries at the end of last year, which probably was a reason why he didn't make the WJC team, he has just gotten better and better. He has been very good for a while now and even leads the team in plus/minus. Here are his current stats:

Stats
2nd-tier league: 32 games, 5 goals, 8 assists, plus-26
U20 league: 12 games, 10 goals, 8 assists, plus-2
