This thread has been stickified and I've merged all threads discussing the waiver draft, please try to contain discussion of the Waiver Draft and it's impact on the Leafs roster to this thread so as to help assist in keeping the board organized.

Thanks,
Your friendly neighborhood PowerMad Moderators Group.

Bill Muckalt kinda stuck out for me. Missed almost all of last season with an injury, but had 5 goals in 8 games before he got hurt. He only makes $750,000 so I wouldn't be surprised to see someone take a chance on him.

If Therien had Todd Simpson's salary, I'd take him in a heartbeat then trade Berg.

Schultz is a minor league thug and Dykhuis is about as popular as Brisebois in Montreal right now.

he might. but as a 4th-type d-man,i dunno if he would be very happy as a 7th.

but i think Pushor is more than capable of that 7th role.

I always had a soft spot Czerkawski or maybe it was just his wife . I don't mind Therien even if he skates slow.

Yeah, because it's hard to score goals or play defence if you don't have a guy like Belak to pound the crap out of some other no-talent goon.

On a real note, I think picking up Brian Boucher could be an excellent move. Buy out Kidd, let Tellqvist play the season in the minors. Boucher would be an excellent asset at a position where we don't really have much organizational depth...Hodson, Racine and Centomo look to be career NHLers and Kidd is nothing, so basically it's Belfour, Tellqvist and Todd Ford. If Belfour retires or leaves, we could go into the lockout with Boucher and Tellqvist under contract and that's not a bad position to be in.

Pushor vs. ...
Traverse, Timmander, Dykhuis, Therien? I see these guys as the best D men available.

I just can't assess these guys well enough against one another because I have not seen enough of them.

Which one makes a better 7th or better d man?

For the price.

I think Green will get picked up myself which will free up some salary.

I also think Green will be picked up.

Out of the list Therien is the best available d-man.

For a AHL-type player-----Leafs should go for Greg Classen of the Preds-----Alyn McCauley-type player

the only problem I have with this is that it would likely push Centomo back down into the ECHL which I think would be bad for his development. I think they should just buy out Kidd or get rid of him somehow and make Tellqvist the back up now. I think he is definately ready. Belfour won't go anywhere.

I am sure Belak would have been on the bibble. Belive it or not, there actually is some value in having a goon like Belak who usually wins his fights. He is a good fighter.
