Would you sign Jagr in the off-season?

Hes the best forward in NJ right now. Remember that when he signed with Dallas a couple years ago, it was his third choice. His first choice was to stay with Philly and second was to come to Montreal where Bergevin officially stated that he wants to give the young players chances (talking about Gallagher).

If Jagr still wants to come to Montreal this off-season, I think he would be our best offensive pick up after Gaborik (who probably won't come to Montreal, besides we can't afford him with our cap hit).

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Jagr <-- this would be a powerhouse first line. Our only power forward with the Czech chemistry. I would suspect a total of 200 points from these three guys next year.

Then

Bournival - Galchenyuk - Gallagher <-- young line but has the potential for the second line.. Bournival and Galchenyuk aren't that small.. I would predict this line to get 150 points.

Then

Prust - Briere - Vrbata <-- only reason why Prust would be on this line is because his skill is simply too good to be on the fourth line (also the salary as well), so he should get more minutes. Between DD and Briere, the latter gets more points if you also factor in the minutes they get. I would rather keep Briere for one more year and give him a chance at his natural position where he dominates (especially in the playoffs). Getting Vrbata will be a bit of tough luck since he has accumulated fair amount of points, plus hes around the same size as Prust.

Then

Moen - White - Weise <-- I think our checking line is fine the way it is especially now that we got an official checking RWer instead of Parros who periodically comes in.

Gone forwards: Gionta, Parros, Eller, DD, Bourque

I think these four lines are pretty clean and nice.. to sum it up its:

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Jagr
Bournival - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
Prust - Briere - Vrbata
Moen - White - Weise
Thomas

Then the remaining cap space can be used for contingency measures or on the d-corp.

Let me know what you think

Yeah I would sign him but my lines would be:
Pacioretty-Desharnais-Gallagher
Galchenyuk-Pleks-Jagr
Bournival-Eller-Briere
Prust-White-Weise

Unless other moves were made as well, one would hope so.

You know the season we finally sign Jagr will be the year he is officially done.

Was going to post something similar. Would have signed him 6 years ago before he left. Would have signed him when he first hinted at coming back. Would have signed him before this season. But even I know that "eventually" is coming for him, and I'm not entirely optimistic of his "worth" for any more than 1, maybe 2, more seasons. Then again, who thought he'd be up near his '07/08 ice time and being this productive this year?

I think the poll needs more options than yes and no...signing Jagr all depends on what his demands are. I definitely wouldn't be willing to give a 1st round pick for him on top of his salary like Boston did.

This team doesn't have very good luck with vets. They seem to anchor the team down year after year.

Jagr signs with Habs last year,he would have 8 pts and on the 4th line,in and out of the press box, cause he cant grind....I wish i was joking.

Likely the reason they never signed him.

You know, signing a free agent not only involves an offer from a team, but also the player has to accept that offer. It's not feasible to suggest that MB should just go out and sign a certain player, because that certain player has to want to come here.

Jagr has made it clear that he is happy to use Montreal as a means of gaining leverage, but has no interest in coming here. So in the end, it makes no difference.

Freakin' too late now. This was the perfect year to sign Jagr but MB was too stupid and signed Danny Boy instead.

Thought he's retiring after this season? Like Selanne.

Pleks/Jagr would've been a fun duo to watch.

How about: 1) Plex/Jags win the gold, 2) NJ loses their next six to fall out of contention, 3) Brian Gionta for Jaromir Jagr.

Sure. Why the Hell not?
Though, we turned the guy down twice already. I have no idea how he took that.

Tough to say no when he's leading a team in scoring If we did i'd go with something like:

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Jagr
Prust - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
Brière - Eller - Bournival
Moen - White - Weise

Ideally trade for a powerforward to play beside Chuckie and Gally.

For the third year in a row my answer is Yes. Although I'm getting less confident it'll be a good idea each year, he is leading his team in scoring..

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, guess what? It's probably a duck.

Yes, it's crystal clear to me, yet shy of Jagr stating it himself (which he never would) it could never be proven in a court of law, or on HFBoards.

Absolutely. Jagr only signs 1 year deals, that's a win win situation at his age because we could easily move him for assets at the trade deadline if things didn't work out our way during the season

Either get him at the deadline or forget him
No matter what he does at some point its time to move on
