Eakins training camp: Status quo. I think that Eakins came in thinking that he could change these guys into the kind of players he wanted over night. That was far from the truth. I imagine they'll take the next step or two in being closer to playing the exact system he wants to play before the Olympic break is over. They've had a ton of time to absorb more knowledge. Hope it works.

Gazdic on the 2nd line: It's just convenient to do it like that now because Hemsky is overseas. No way you can convince me he'll get top six minutes after the break.

Klefbom: Over 215 pounds now? Nice to hear!

Trade deadline predictions:

Jordan Eberle: A quality top four defenseman signed long term and possessing a wide range of skills. --- Sounds about right. A good top 4 d-man will make us much more competitive.

Jeff Petry: A young, established NHL defenseman capable of playing top 4D minutes (but a different player type). --- Probably someone who's either radically defensive or radically offensive. Hoping for the latter. Hope he's a real bruiser too.

Sam Gagner: A top nine forward with enough skill to play a legit role. A Moreau-type (when he was good) who is established. --- Sounds about right.

Ales Hemsky: First-round draft pick (I understand a plug-and-play would be better but teams don’t trade those things at the deadline). First rounder is probably pushing it. A 2nd and a 4th/5th/minor prospect is more realistic IMO

Ben Scrivens: A second round pick. We need to resign him badly. Not saying he's the starting goalie of the future, but he's played really well for us. I think Edmonton would have to demand a 1st rounder for him. If we trade him, who are we going to depend on next year? Bryzgalov? Not happening

Nick Schultz: A third round pick. ---Sounds about right

Ryan Smyth: A fourth round pick. --- Would be really happy if we traded him knowing that he wouldn't play for us next year. He gets too many minutes at the worst of times. That being said, I'm pretty sure we'd get a 3rd rounder for him.

Corey Potter: A fourth round pick. --- Can anymore imagine him getting that big of a return? I'd be excited over getting a sixth rounder. He tries to do too much with the puck in his own zone and his play on the PP is overrated at times.

Anton Belov: A fourth round pick. --- No way. 5th at best. He's had a horrible time getting used to playing in North America.

Ilya Bryzgalov: A fourth round pick. Think we could get a little more on his name alone. Especially considering he's on a contract year and can play well behind a good group of d-men.

Jesse Joensuu: A fourth round pick. --- No way in hell we're getting this much for him. I'd take a 6th rounder. He gets worn down too quickly when playing physically.

Taylor Fedun: A fourth round pick. Why would we trade him and no way he's worth that much due to lack of experience.

Mark Fraser: A fourth round pick. Overpayment by other team. He's useless in the playoffs. No enough speed, skill or hockey IQ.

Luke Gazdic: A fifth round pick. He isn't going anywhere. We need him.

Ryan Jones: A sixth round pick. Would be excited to see him get traded away for anything.

Denis Grebeshkov: A seventh round pick. Anyone here think that any team will have any interest in him?

Ben Eager: A seventh round pick. --- Why would anyone want to pick him up? He's been garbage all year.
