I feel sorry for these snowboarders, this half pipe track is in terrible condition. About 60% of the atheletes have wiped out on their run

The Russian-Swiss run was amazing... hoping for the best from Shaun White but also for him not to get gold.

Podlad's run was a beauty. I never knew Japan had a strong snowboarding scene either.

Neither did I! 15 and 18! Just think, the next silver medallist in Pyeongchang could actually be 11 right now. Odd.

Japan has amazing snowboarding/skiing scene. They have the mountains, population and the accessibility, plus they've hosted the winter Olympics a few times.

The cold winds coming off of Siberia mixed with the humid ocean winds makes it absolutely dump snow up north. I went skiing in Niseko a few years ago and it snowed over 2 meters in a week. They're the 2nd snowiest resort in the world behind Mt. Baker.

Very impressed with the Japanese on the halfpipe. It's insane that Hirano is only 15 years old... by the next Olympics he'll only be 19 and he'll already have an Olympic games under his belt... crazy!

The best is part is after a long day on the mountain, you hike over to the local onsen, strip down, scrub yourself clean and relax in a place like this.

Shawn White's 4th looks good on him. Also our Women finished 12th and 13th in Women's Skil Jumping, not great, but props to them.

Does he compete in another event? If not, he got shutout. I bet he wishes he didn't pull out of slope style now.

I work downtown Edmonton near City Centre mall. Anyone know of a good place I can watch the game on Friday during lunch?

He had a flight booked for NY, right after the finals. Presumably to cash in on the talk show circuit after "winning his third gold medal.." He's a great snowboarder and a savvy businessman....

Man, haven't you even seen certain people in this thread talking about how certain athletes "choked" and crap like that.

He's taking a break from snowboarding to go on tour with his band.

Better hope TC doesn't lose.

They'll choke the threads about choking.

I really wish we got to see the cross country ski circuit year round. It is such a terrific sport to watch. Very exciting.

I don't think so, as far as medals, maybe Pairs Figure Skating, but I'm not sure how strong our teams are. The Women's Hockey team appear to be having a big 3rd, 2 goals in a 1:30
