Should get at least one more metal this morning too in freestyle moguls. Canadians sitting 1 and 2 after qualifing and two more in 5 and 6.

I'm starting to come around too. Been sick the last few days and the CBC android app has been awesome. Keeping up and watching events live from my tablet in bed.

Looks like extra forwards are Stepan & Wheeler

@SI_sarahkwak: USA lines: jvr-pavekski-Kessel; Parise-Backes-oshie; brown-Kesler-Kane; Callahan-stastny-pacioretty

I'd actually take Wheeler ahead of a couple other guys on the set lines.

Don't understand that at all. Wheeler is 4th among US forwards in the Olympics in points, and 6th in goals. He also has proven chemistry with Stastny, and has proven to be a damn good player on big ice.

So let's start him on the bench.

US is stupid. What else is new?

All 4 Canadians qualified for the Big Final (top 12). Bilodeau a little shaky in his run.

Wheels is on the team and he will get his shot on the big ice and it will be up to Blake to make the best of it. We have all seen Blake in his funks and that is not pretty but on the flip side when he hits the turbo boosters he can be dominant even against the best players. Can't wait to see him get his shot because I think he will bring it.

It's just disappointing to see, and then see people talk it up, because every line needs some grinder to do the dirty work, right?

I mean, what would Crosby be without... Oh.

Well, what about Malkin without... Hmm...

Toews withou...

Stamko...

Does that actually apply to any top line in the NHL?

It really makes me happy when a player, who's normally playing on a top line in the NHL, is scratched for a 33 year old guy who plays in the SEL. It gives me a lot of confidence in the coaching staff.

But, you know guys, the 33 year old is probably a good grinder. Heart. Truculence. Hockey. Sports. Hits. Good old Canadian boy.

Who's this, and which Swedish grinder is in over them? Johanssen vs Ericsson?

Marcus Johansson is scratched. Sure, he's not a clear top line forward, but he's still a damn fine player that would improve a lot of teams.

http://admin.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=1103

That's the grinder.

Fun fact, I think he played with my cousin.

Other fun facts: In 18 games in the WHC, he has amassed 4 points. In a total of 48 international games, he has 18 points.

But hey, I'm sure he is a great grinder.

Well at least Canada sent grin..

..or the US sent their grind..

Ok, never mind. I don't think many teams are sending any grinders.

It's possible for a talented player to play a "grinder" role - not so much the reverse. Any thoughts on why they're doing what they're doing?

Man, Bilodeau's last run was unreal. Awesome to see us win 4 of 6 medals in the Moguls. Especially as a skiier, love seeing Canada win ski medals.

Because...

while you would think that if you look like this, God would have been nice enough to make you really freaking smart, sometimes life just isn't that fair.

Seriously though, it's because a lot of international tournaments are played without NHL-players, and Swedish coaches think that the players they see a lot of are as good as the NHL-players. There is no reason behind this logic, they just think so. It usually ends up meaning that we have players that can't play more than ~5 minutes per game because they are complete liabilities. But hey, who could see that coming when you decide to pick a player who never made the NHL because he simply didn't have the skill set.

Ok Romang67 you are killing me. I am laughing so hard that people at the office are popping by to see what is so funny. I don't know why that photo with your post made me laugh so hard but it did!

All of a sudden Toby's falling out with the coach seems to make more sense.

My favorite photo ever on the Jets/Thrasher board was when I first visited the Tharshers board and they had posted a photo of the Octatards all huddled up during an exec basketball game and it was strait out of a Saturday night live skit.
