it's a graft. supposed to heal stronger than the original ligament since there is less wear-and-tear on it. they take the ligament from somewhere else, like the hamstring. they're testing pig graft on human subjects now.

Exactly. He's really been struggling and it is important not to get rose-coloured glasses. He needs to be moved before he gets injured again/his play declines further. Have MT get him a dozens roses and a box of chocolates for old time's sake

and for the record, they REALLY should trade him. We are not going to be a contender until 2 or 3 more years. Markov will be done by then. It's a great opportunity to get a great pick and a decent prospect in return.

If Craig Rivet got us Josh Gorges and Max Pacioretty, what could Markov bring us ?

Emelin
Beaulieu
Drewiske
Tinordi
Pateryn
this looks bad, but diaz had this season to prove that he could somewhat replace markov's contribution and he failed.

it wasnt the same GM

most of the salary he got from insurances, not Habs org.

It's not that bad, really. First of all, Tinordi and Drewiske should switch positions on your depth chart.

Then yeah, you bring back Murray or sign another vet. Then Drewiske... depends if Pateryn has to clear waivers next year. If so, then he stays up as 7th D, if not he goes down and Drewiske drewiskes all year.

My educated guess is that, this is all bull ****. Rumors all around, passed as official news.

Same return plus one more piece I'm thinking would be okay. Markov is a couple years older than Rivet was but he's a bigger name and has more skills.

Shouldn't be resigning players to 35+ year old contracts. If Koivu did nothing with the Habs and was let go, WTF has Markov done?

And to those that say we have no one to replace him, yes we do his name is PK and he's done it twice already...
So a Dman who already has 29 points with only 2 forwards on the team with more should be paid .5 million more than prust? Yeah I can see where these rumours would come from if bergevin was negotiating like you. Markov is worth 5 million easy. That or subban is only worth 6 million because he doesn't have that many more points than markov and they are both disasters for different reasons in the D zone.

Please trade while he can still walk. We can get a great return for him and build a real contender. He's shown in the past he can't elevate his play in the playoffs and right now I wouldnt pay him anywhere near 5 or 6 million because he can't even take the grind of a regular season let alone 4 playoff rounds. If he takes a discount then fine otherwise trade and get some good pieces.

Time is now to trade Markov. If LA wants him and they won't let go of Tiffoli, I'd try for a package of:

Voynov or Muzzin + Zykov + King or Clifford

Wouldn't Markov be a perfect fit in Colorado? They need a good defenceman like Markov and we need some good scoring forwards.

Losing Markov will hurt for the next 2-3 years but that about how many usefully year he as left might as well trade him we can always try to resign him over the summer...

that would be great, let the young guys play and draft McDavid, win-win.
