Hopefully Tsubota is ok.
She wanted the medal...
And she went for it...
Despite bad conditions.
By that point...
The snow was basically mush...
And a lot of the competitors could barely maintain speed.

When Tsubota took off...
Even as an amateur...
I knew she did not have enough speed...
And I hoped that she would just make it over that hill.

That looked bad.
She had to be carted off.
Hopefully...
It only looks bad...
And she will be ok.

2 medals.
Woo!

Congrats.
Dara Howell had a very good run.

Honestly...
I almost wrote today off.
I did not expect any medals.
Canada is doing great this year...
Despite some contenders who were not able to deliver.

We're really cleaning up in slope style events. Seems like a more care free daredevil style which favours North Americans as opposed to the traditional downhill European style.

Big fan of Mcmorris and Howell, great personalities.

Yeah.
Honestly...
Most of these trick boarders and skiers looks pretty chill.
Their age probably helps...
As the majority of them are in their late teens and early twenties.

The course needs more maintenance though.
Sochi is too warm...
And by the second run...
The course got really chewed up.
It got really dangerous...
And I am surprised...
In a good way...
That not more people are hurt.

I had 3 medals pegged for today. We have 2 sliders in the Womens Luge with medal shots, currently 4th and 5th going into the final run.

Charles Hamelin's race was a thing of beauty! Alex Bilodeau's run was so impressively clinical as well.

Well done to you Canadians.

Apparently never ... I've seen a couple interviews with Canadian Olympic officials speculating this is the first time we've ever led in the medal count to close out a day.

21 of Norway's 23 medals last Olympics were in skiing events. Canada is a threat in many more events. I think the USA will once again be the country to beat medal-wise.

Germany, USA and Canada should be top 3 on the medal standings. In 2010 Canada had medals in 9 different sports, Norway 7, Germany 10, USA 9.

The top sports for each Country
Canada - Long Track and Short Track Speed Skating both netted 5 medals each.
Germany - Luge, Cross-Country Skiing, Biathlon netted 5 medals each.
Norway - Cross Country Skiing netted 9 medals.
USA - Alpine Skiing netted 8 medals.

Heard it is a broken jaw for Yuki Tsubota.
Hopefully she has a fast recovery.

Denny Morrison wins silver in 1000M Long Track Speed Skating.

He fell in the Canadian Qualifying and didn't make the team, Gilmour Junio gave up his spot for Denny to skate.

That's just awesome!!!

Yeah Fan 960 has started the What Would You Give Up for Gilmore? campaign. He's getting all kinds of tickets, dinners, green fees etc donated. A BMW dealership is letting him have a beemer for a weekend, haha.

If I'm Big Rock, Wildrose or Tool Shed (the other breweries here in Calgary) I'd up the ante and give him a better beer than the rasberry beer lol.
