Stewart and Halak suited up for Buffalo tonight. Stewart got a few shifts early on and Halak's backing up. Stew's had 8:30 minutes of TOI through most of two periods. He's a -1 in a 1-1 game. Halak looks pretty much like he does when things aren't going his way. The NBC announcers are commenting on how frustrated Halak has looked at the game and in morning skate with Buffalo.

Well who wouldn't be frustrated, he literally went from a Cup contender to the worst team in the league.

Stewart is officially on the second line, opposite Matt D'agostini. (That should tell you pretty much everything.)

Stewart's now a -2 at the end of the second. Has over 11 min TOI and 3 giveaways.

I always liked D'Ags. Just didn't have much outside of his shot.

I think Halak is going to end up in Minnesota. And I think the Blues are very likely to face Minnesota in the first round. That could make for an interesting twist.

I know a couple posters were bold in saying they don't care about facing Halak in the future, but I think I'd prefer not to face a goalie that knows the team that well in a playoff situation.

Bryz to Min for a 4th
Fasth to Edmonton for 2014 5th and 2015 3rd
Robidas to Anaheim for 4th, they essentially swap Penner for Robidas.
Penner to Washington for a 4th

Lots of big stuff going down!

That's better. I think the Blues would beat Halak, but I think it would hurt a little bit to watch it happen. I want to be able to root for him wherever he goes.

Fasth to Edmonton? Is that confirmed? What did Edmonton give up? They may actually be looking excellent in goal if that's the case.

I'm already excited for a potential first round matchup against Bryz. Should be a great way to build up some postseason confidence

Bryz to Minny, Fasth to Edmonton. Don't understand why Anaheim moved Penner. Guess Jaro's stuck in Buffalo now.

It will be Vanek, I'd wager.

Anaheim has a lot of salary opened up, though. Who besides Vanek would that be for?

I haven't paid much attention to Anaheim this season, but I remember Fasth tearing it up earlier in the year (edit: must have been last year)...did he fall off a cliff or something?

Word is ducks are after Vanek but so are other teams. Bidding war I guess... Hope they have to pay huge in young prospects they have too many for me to be comfortable playing them long term...

Isle want Sami Vaanen per the almighty Eklund... Not sure that's gonna happen...

Surprised to see Penner shipped out, granted I haven't paid much attention to him this year but he seems like a useful guy come playoff time considering his size and recent runs with the Kings.

I'm not surprised Halak didn't go to Minnesota. Buffalo probably wanted something resembling a 2015 2nd and the value wasn't there when they could get a veteran for less and for a team that needed some depth but nothing too splashy since it isn't their time to win anything significant. Pretty much a carryover of the logic of why Miller to Minny never made sense.

Reports are Stastny is willing to give a discount to Colorado. Chances he resigns just went from 50% to at least 75%.

Pretty much what I expected to hear. But I can't lie, even though that's what I expected, it still freaking blows.

If he reaches free agency, I think we'll see a Filppula situation though. We'll have to pay fair market price, but if we do that, it would be a guarantee that he signs here.

I don't get to see much of the avs but what is so special about statsney? This isnt a snarky question either. The most ive seen of him was the olympics. Is he like a backes, Nothing flashy, just gets the job done?

Well he is a legitimate number 2, which is exactly what we've needed. And he's defensively responsible so he makes a lot of sense.

He has great vision and works great on the cycle and is strong on the puck, so he's basically a perfect fit for our offensive game. Defensively, he isn't a future Selke winner, but IMO he is among the 20 or 30 that will receive Selke votes. He plays the shutdown role in Colorado and does a very good job at it. He would have no problem going against the #2 centers of the contenders who are still #1 center caliber.

Even if he was just a 50 point center he will still be a great fit. His production was down because he had crap linemates, but now that he is consistently with Landeskog and another quality linemate that changes from time to time, he is back to being a 65-75 point center. With Schwartz and Tarasenko, we'd have another shutdown line and he'd easily be a 65+ point center.
