Montreal Impact Thread p23 - The Mac and Cheese Edition

Other thread reached it's limit. We need a new title. First post wins. (maybe)

I win

You all owe Arsenal 1 point in the BPL standings and 1 point to IMFC.

Mac = Jack Mac & Cheese is Saputo I guess.

I agree with the 'Jeune avec Beaucoup de Potentiel' as next thread title though

I haven't been following the Impact as much as I would of liked. How is the new guy we got for Andrew Wenger doing ? Is he any good ?

Just got him so we don't know yet.

However, last year he was a on a tear the first half of the season then became irrelevant. Not sure if that was an injury or just general play deficiency.

He is very good though. Definitely has a higher ceiling offensively than Wenger.

MLS rankings out... Impact last of the league unfortunately.

Other news, Houston and FC Dallas are going to play a friend game vs Aston Villa this summer and LA Galaxy to play Manchester Utd as well.

I don't think we will see a friendly Impact vs PSG soon lol

I'm starting to think that NDS only does the job for all the sweet scouting trips he goes on.

I'm hoping we aim for something like a 4-3-1-2 formation with Felipe setting up both Di Vaio and Mac up front, with the midfield streched out like a horizontal diamond. The problem is who plays left wing? If it Romero, then where the hell does Bernier play?

4-3-1-2 would only be smart if we play Bernier-Bernardello and Warner as the 3. If you play One central midfielder and two wingers in the three, that's suicidal, as we basically will only have one central midfielder as Felipe won't be doing much effective back-tracking. It will be more like a 4-1-3-2 rather than a 4-3-1-2. Although a 4-1-3-2 is doable, it's extremely risky on the counter attack. You need the perfect Pivot back there, someone like Daniele De Rossi, as an example, but most importantly, an extremely good defense, which isn't our case.

I think best thing do to is play it safe. If you want to play two forwards, stick with the good old 4-4-2. Felipe to come in as a substitute when we're trailing games, then we could switch to a 4-1-3-2. And when Felipe isn't a sub, we can use him as a second striker, rotating in between Jack Mac & MDV (Because let's face it, we can't play both of them for the next 30 games)

Is a diamond 4-4-2 basically the same thing as 4-1-3-2 or 4-3-1-2?

I would prefer Bernier and Bernardello be ahead/behind each other, better to have a stay at home DM than more offence. I think Jack and Di Vaio and enough offence to keep upfield.

When people say a Diamond 442, I basically see a 4-1-2-1-2. 1 DM, 1 AM, 2 WIDE MIDIFIELDERS (Not necessarily wingers, they have to put in a LOT of defensive work) and 2 strikers. However, it's almost impossible to say, as every manager has their own variations. So in theory, yes a 4-4-2 diamond could be a 4-1-3-2 if the manager wants his 2 wingers to be true wingers, rather than wide midfielders
