Sounds bad but not the worst news. If it was minor they're very treatable.

Jesus Christ.

I hope he's okay. As a person, not a hockey player. This **** is ridiculous

Indeed. Crazy about the little hole in the heart thing.

Sounds like with blood thinners though hopefully he can be back to normal at some point.

WTF!?!? A stroke is no joke, he should probably be on lifetime blood thinners and career over. Unless they fix that hole I can't imagine him not garnering a continuous need for Coumadin or any other blood thinning agent. Otherwise it will be a high risk for recurrent strokes in the future...also I am an RN not a doctor so take that with a grain of salt, but This is not great news for Kris.

Scary stuff. Really scary stuff. Goes beyond hockey and just makes you think about life for a minute or two. Hoping for a full recovery however long that may take.

Man, my thoughts go out to him and his family. I wonder if this is the first one or if this is what has been causing his migraine problems and they just caught it. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and is able to continue playing hockey.

holy ****. I hope he makes a full recovery. Devastating news whether you like him as a player or not. Really scary stuff that this can happen to a super athlete sort of human.

If he's on blood thinners, it wasn't that kind of stroke.

Hopefully this puts all the tinfoil nonsense to rest. It certainly explains the time it took to diagnose.

Wow, scary stuff. I lost my dad to a stroke. Not something you expect to hear about an athlete like Letang. I hope he can fully recover just for his long term health.

Real awful for someone of his age to suffer from a potentially crippling medical disorder like that. Not going to play somesort of internet doctor or anything

Best of luck Kris, I hope you recover quickly and well.

If they're saying he's expected to miss at least 6 weeks that also means they think there's a chance of him returning this season?

So we've had Crosby's concussion/neck issues, Vokoun's blood clots, and Letang had a stroke.

Can we PLEASE find those 3rd jerseys and salt and burn them?

When was the last time a team had two health threatening injuries in the same season? crazy stuff and I doubt we see him again this year.

Based on the description, his recent history, and the time they took to diagnose it, it's most likely a TIA and he'll be fine.

I guess it means they're at least leaving the door open for the possibility. He definitely won't be back as long as he's on blood thinners for obvious reasons.

It must have been a really minor stroke, relatively speaking.
