There are people who are interested in Habs, and then there are people who are interested in criticizing guys on this board.

Know the difference!

I know I'm in the minority, but I always liked DD. Sure he's tiny, but the dude is tremendously talented.

Have him scoring 60 points a year playing with a 30-40 goal scoring Pacioretty on a 2nd line would be a coup.

I honestly thought he was done, and the posts are there to prove it, but I thought he was done because he wouldn't change his game.

He did, he plays a slighltly more... courageous brand of hockey, gets in dirtier areas and skates harder.

Credit to him, he seems to have taken his career out of the abyss.

The GDT is hilarious to read

"Maybe DD will step up now that Pacioretty is away"
"Don't get your hopes up"

"Oh my god, why do they put DD on the Power play when Patch isn't with him?"

"DD will pick up the slack!!"
"ya and Bourque will score 50"

So we are winning streak again and next bad slump coming right before play offs? Deja vu anyone?

I'm sure someone must have said something about this by now.

Desharnais 2 goals without Pacioretty in the lineup? Looks like not having to look for Pacioretty 24/7 to pass to helps him out...

Cannot have a 1 or 2 C with 10-15 goals. Just cannot. That is why DD was so useless, in my opinion.

I thought DD would lose his job last year if he scored at less than 20 goal pace. He did not score at that pace. And then he was signed for 4 more years. That really pissed me off. It was, and is obvious that the guy has to score goals also.

But clearly someone has talked to him, finally, as they should have before he was re signed.

I have a BIG problem with a ten goal DD. I have NO problem with a 20 Goal DD.

If you do not agree, then look at Koivu. First and foremost a play maker , but the guy would pot key goals when needed, every bloody year. DD essentially replaced Saku, and I want Saku's goals from him. Anything less is not acceptable.
No I believe it was Gomez that replaced Saku, much to our team chagrin. And I am sorry but DD is not like Koivu. Koivu passed to more than one player and his leadership skills were amazing, some don't think so, but as I could only watch on french CBC I wasn't distracted by the commentary as to who is good and who is not. Carbs was my favourite player till Saku. And he played his ass off no matter what. The injury he took hurt his career and if he had the technology we had today he would be in the same group as sundin for scoring. (Yeah I know bobby orr now would have potted 1 million goals each year). Now maybe he was our only good player during this time so it highlights how good he was, but he might have been better if he wasn't taking all the defnesive and offensive draws, not to mention all their players would not have keyed in on him as much.

Said he was having back spasms but felt better after treatment and will continuw treatment as he heads over to Sochi.

Relieved he'll be okay and looking forward to him saddling up with the States.

Thank you, I'm actually more worried about long term when he comes back from Sochi, he's been through enough. Ugh, why did it have to be the back....

Yep.

The key to Desharnais turnaround after 18 games -- apart from Pacioretty waking up and Gallagher joining their line -- is the way Desharnais has played.

At the beginning of the season, he regularly entered the offensive zone along the boards and was essentially looking to pass the puck to Pacioretty. All the opponents had to do was coral him towards the boards and snuff him out in a 1 on 1 battle there.

Now, Desharnais enters the offensive zone, more regularly, through centre ice, with more pass options and shot options. While he doesn't shoot often enough, the defender must still pay attention to him, creating a little more space for the wingers.

Desharnais still isn't large enough to win 1 on 1 battles in a physical manner but, he seems to have found a second gear in terms of skating. It's almost as if he applies a stop and go to his charges into the offensive zone and, more often than not, manages to catch the D flat-footed. Against Carolina, the 1st D pairing actually gave him more room, back-pedalling, and Desharnais used the space appropriately.

Desharnais IS going to dirty areas more than earlier on this season but, is using his head to win those battles and SKATING, SKATING, SKATING to alter the defensive box.

His sense of anticipation is up there right now with 2, 3 and sometimes more stripping of the puck in the offensive zone to create turnovers that lead to scoring opportunities.

Give credit where credit is due. Desharnais has upped his game and it's not a question of him playing better or getting more points strictly because of his line mates.

Eller was bad (sucks cuz he has shifts where he's the only guy who can outmuscle three opponents against the boards), no doubt about it. Still hoping he gets his game back once Chucky is healthy.

DD was terrific. Gally, White and Bourque too.

Gio and Pleks played their roles perfectly. So did Weise.

Cube was just fine and Beaulieu (despite the one gaff, which was nearly a highlight reel move had he converted it) a solid NHLer.

I'm so used to Murray playing well for a number of games, it's a good feeling.

Subban trying to do too much and getting caught. Is what it is.

We so need Price in Sochi.

Awesome that Patches is going. I hope he enjoys a bronze. (Finland can have the silver.)

That seems like a pretty arbitrary number. Why 20 and not 15, 18, 21 or 25 ?
