pass. would love Spezza on this team, but giving up two of our better young players and the highest 2 draft picks we have is a horrible idea

I don't know anything about Mauthew but I will say this much... unless BM is working on a big deal to get a quality winger to play with Spezza, he most definitely should be traded. It may not have the appeal I was hoping for but judging by the reaction so far, sounds like a fair deal.

I am assuming you are referring to Stefan Matteau, The son of former ranger Stphane Matteau.

This deal is terrible for the Devils. No offense to Spezza he is definitely an asset but we are in no position to trade one of only Forward prospects (Boucher is the other)

Adam Larsson's value couldn't be any lower than is right now. Unless mass overpayment from someone which isnt happening there is no deal at this moment.

The 2nd & 3rd I will assume would be for this upcoming draft. If that is the case that would leave the devils with no 1st 2nd or 3rd picks of their own.

If you are targeting Larsson the return has to start with a 1st coming back to NJ.

No thanks. Dont want Larsson as the main piece in a Spezza trade.

Interesting proposal. I'd say yes talent-wise, but I'll say no simply because of Spezza's contract. He's a UFA after next season. No point in doing this for a one-year rental

So rather than acquiring a scoring winger to play with Spezza we just trade him away? Yeah, no. Not happening.

No from the Devils. Spezza is already 30 and is doesn't make sense to trade away a 21yr old potential stud blueliner, 1 of 2 legit F prospects, and 2 decently high/mid range picks.

By the time the Devils get back to the top and that is if Spezza stays he'll be already in his mid 30s. No way.

I think we should trade Spezza if we dont acquire someone for him to play with. With the emergence of the MacArthur-Turris-Ryan line and Zibanejad I think we can afford to get rid of him. His value wont get much higher than it is now. Pull the trigger if you can get a return like this one.

Only concern as a sens fan is we need a solid LD no another RD.

Matteau has been brutal and 2nd/3rd round picks are more valued on HF than in real life. I would love to get a prospect like Larsson, but if guys like Moulson are going to return 2 solid assets, I'm not interested in moving Spezza for 1.

How has he been brutal? He was good in the world juniors this season and is doing decent in the minors. He is still developing...

Risky for NJ.

Ottawa gets two prime pieces (both 21 and 19 currently) to develop their young core and we get a highly paid C who will be 31 next season who is only signed for one more year (and at a high price tag at that!).

I love Spezza as a player, but NJ needs to focus on developing kind of what Ottawa is trying to do (develop lots of younger players).

I don't think a 30 year old Spezza would fit into the Devils plan. But also give up their arguably best forward propect, two high round picks, and one of their best defensive propects.

The deal if fair value wise but I think Ottawa would need the biggest piece of the deal to be a young NHL forward or a blue chip forward prospect. The Sens' D is a weakness right now but when it comes to potential and talent I think they are set on D. A trade for a late 20s top 4 dman and a very good forward prospect is the way they should proceed. Unless they could flip Larsson for a similar forward with great upside.

Spezza is one of my favorite players. But a a devil fan I turn this down. Not realt in the devils plans. If he was 22-23, then I would do it.
