I don't think LA would do either.

Think about all the offers you have made in the past 10-15 threads. Do they work? No. Does this one? No.

Why would LA trade their best scoring forward for a defenseman who can walk at the end of the season?

Same here. Obviously would have to be Pearson+, but couldn't tell you what it would be. Also, letting go of Bieksa makes me somewhat weary of our RHD depth, would force us to move Corrado to the second pairing maybe.

I'd do it, maybe playing in a defensive system would help them out.

Learn what? That if he retires in 5 years, the Sabres have a $5m penalty if they trade him, instead of a $3m penalty if they keep him? Or, if he retires before his final contract year, it's a $10m penalty if they traded him, instead of that same $3m penalty if they keep him?

If I were Buffalo, you'd have to seriously convince me to risk an additional $7m cap hit penalty, even if it's only for 1 season.

Pens need a scoring winger but due to cap contraints and who's available on your team, I don't see anything working out between us.

We could send you Orpik in a package deal? What would you be willing to give up for him? We also have plenty of high quality prospects in the system. Doumilin, Harrington etc..

I know you guys are struggling offensively so I'm sure Carter is off the table but I'd be open to a Letang for Carter deal.

Wow both of these deal are bad for LA. Markov would be a good fit but considering he is a UFA that could walk at seasons end that is way too much to give up.

Bourque (50%), Gorges for Clifford, Martinez

Given the health concerns of Letang there is zero chance of this. Plus he will be overpaid next year

With how injury prone he has become I would be hesitant and try and do a prospect + lower draft pick from LA.
value is likely fair though.

Martinez could be part of the plus (if not the whole thing).

Maataa for Toffoli? Just spitballing and haven't had my coffee yet, please don't kill me everyone

Edit: probably a net loss on both sides really, ignore me! Classic post-before-you-think

And again, if people would actually watch the Habs and Markov, they would understand why every GM entering the playoffs would be willing to pay heavy to have A Markov on their defensive corp.

I'd love Markov, especially to help our PP, would be great with Doughty.

But the UFA tag is scary and changes a lot.

Would the Kings be interested in Quincey or Eaves from Detroit? The cost would be minimal, both are UFA's.

Quincey-3.75
Eaves-1.2

Actually, Gustavsson might even be a vet option at back-up. 1.5, UFA as well. Also, minimal return.

Similar salary return would be preferred, or draft picks(probably below the 3rd round)

Oh I like that deal. Pearson or a 1st straight up would be good for both.
